First off, my apologies if this topic has already been covered in previous threads. I have searched on this website but have found nothing regarding this.

I looking into buying my first AR but have one question - Gas Piston or Direct Impingement?

I know piston runs much cleaner, but I can't imagine I'd be shooting enough for cleaning a DI rifle to be so unbearable. So with that said, the only thing that I'm still concerned with is the recoil between the two systems.

Is the recoil greater or lighter with a piston system or DI?

I'd like to hear personal experiences with both systems.
Much appreciated!

I'd say: https://www.m4carbine.net/nual/misc/nav_search.gif

Phrases such as,
Piston Recoil
DI Clean
etc

I just tried and got quite a few good results.

It's greater with piston.
