I've been lurking and reading messages about competitive and 3-Gun Matches. While I'd like to buy and build a custom gun, I don't have that kind of discretionary income. For the match I have in mind, I plan on shooting in the Iron Sights category. Ranges of engagment run out to 200 yards with targets being 10" plates at that distance.
I have a 20" Colt Match HBAR that I've had for years and don't shoot anymore. I was thinking about taking this rifle and tweaking it for the matches. I was thinking about installing a JP free-float fore end and also a 6 position Stag Arms receiver extension and installing a Magpul CRT stock. (I love to suck up to the charging handle and even A1 stock doesn't get me as close as I like)
I've read about the advantages of 18" and 20" barrels for long distance and was curious what the board members thought of a 20" rifle with a collapsible stock. I tried searching but didn't see any posts about how reliabe this setup would be.
Any ideas or comments???
