I shot this guy about a 2 weeks ago. He scored a 353. Not a world record by any means, but he'll look good on the wall.
Just thought I'd share, hope you enjoy.

Gun Nut:
Nice 6 x 6. any bull that breaks 350 is a very nice bull. Heck even 340, is a great bull these days. Was that an S.C.I. or B. & C. score?
Congratulations.
Very nice..One of these days Im gonna have to pony up the money to take a shot at one of those with a bow...
Where are you hunting??
Here in Colorado, on the eastern slope.
I put in for an archery tag in the neighboring unit, but didn't get my draw.
Nice.
What did you use to bag that fine specimen (i.e. bow/rifle/chainsaw/etc.)?

I tried several years ago with the bow. It is not easy to get close enough. With a rifle I would have taken a 340 bull on the morning of the first day. The rifle is much more sure, but also a lot more expensive if you are going guided. y.m.m.v.
I used my "Old Reliable", it's a Savage model 110 in .30-06. It was my first rifle given to me by my dad. I've had it for years, and it's come through on many ocassions. The Bushnell 3-9x40 has lasted a lot longer than I ever dreamed.
The loads were 180 grain Core-lok. At 60-70 yards, 1 shot put him down immediately.
I couldn't be happier with this past elk season.:)
A .30-06 and 180 gr. core-loks have harvested many, many animals for a long time.

I am envious of you!
I'd love to go Elk hunting but since I live in Maryland I would have to travel. I was in Colorado back in august and was horrified to see that it cost like 800 dollars for a out of state Elk license and like 1300 for Moose. Seems insane to me for just the license cost considering you don't even know if you will kill one. Looks like I'll be limited to just Deer hunting for a while. Stinks you cant just go in the woods and shoot a animal like back in the day. Now you got to be rich just to go hunting for Elk or other big game animals other than Deer. It's ashame because it keeps a lot of people from enjoying hunting because of the insane prices.
BTW, Nice Elk!
