Light off to the side for more dramatic lighting and some shadows. More contrast and dramatic lighting.
Cock that 1911, you never know when bad guys will infiltrare your photo shoot.
Is that second pic a crotch shot??
Watches seem to be set to times like 10:10 in ads, or let the second hand go to :05 for more symmetry. (Silly, I know)
I never know how to place the objects, that is Stickmans strength.
And lastly, no boobs? Deduct 5 points.

Will, the two things in your top photo that will draw the viewers eye are the bezel on your watch and the edge of your knife. They are both bright white. Interestingly the knife edge even forms a little V pointer to the watch.
If your intention is to highlight and focus the attention to the gun, you could burn( in photoshop ) the knife edge. You could also maybe place the watch on it's side and as someone suggested use different lighting and/or even burn it a bit and then maybe get some lighting highlights on the gun.
Then you could do an alternate picture where the watch is highlighted and the gun could take the background role.
Probably moire than you wanted hear and not try to say the pics aren't nice. Just food for thought.

Good feedback, but cost you $20 to see my boobs. :o
The picture threads exist for a reason.
Despite what Stainer asserted in regard to the Tao of Love, there is no "Artist Exemption."
