I found one locally for a pretty good price but I have a couple concerns about it. First of all, I could barely see the red dot, looking around their fairly dark store. I opened the battery compartment and I found two 357 batteries. The guy said when they replaced the old battery there was only one inside (didn't say the size) but they put two back in it. I stopped at Radio Shack and picked up a correct battery afterwards. If that doesn't fix it nothing will, correct? Aimpoint was closed by the time I had the serial number, so I can only assume it's legit from looking at it.

Also, I don't know what mount it comes with. I didn't see any markings on it, but it had a mount for a small laser on the side of the mount. Does anyone know what brand that is? He said it was a factory mount.

Here are some pictures I snapped so I could call Aimpoint and run the numbers. Does it look real from these?

I had already looked on there and couldn't find the mount listed.

So now I'm almost positive it is a knockoff. Look at the serial number of this one: http://www.airsoftvanguard.com/files/full/154_4.jpg

As far as I can tell, those are the same serial numbers. Coincidence? I doubt it...

Get your money back and start learning how to tell if what you're buying is real.

Thanks for the snide remarks. I looked at the list first and didn't purchase it to start with. I wanted to see if it needed different batteries first and then realized it was a fake.

I don't think Belmont31R was trying to be a ass ,when these Copies Hit the Market a lot of folks Got taken thinking they were getting the real deal it was so bad that Aimpoint had to Put up a "what to look for "on their site .
I hope you can get your Money back ! I Love My Aimpoint PRO and you will GTG once you can get your hands on a real One .Hell we all make Mistakes from time to time, just chalk this up as a learning experience :)

Thats a fake...there are a few clues to incude the white markings, shiney finish, and cheap mount. Sorry to hear you got taken....can you return it?

Guys, I guess I wasn't clear in my OP. I didn't buy this one. I went with the intention of buying it but when I got there I was a bit skeptical.

So luckily I didn't get taken advantage of, other than the gas money to go check it out.

Aimpoint has a link (IIRC) that allows you to report people selling fake/knock offs. I'd report the seller.

I think he needs to report the person he purchased it from. He said he was suckered. Could just be covering his ass, I don't know him that well.

I seconded that ! I used that Report on a shop close to me and had them listed at retail Aimpoint Prices. needless to say i don't go there anymore .I am not sure if they are still selling them or what Aimpoint will do .

Not being snide. Just been on these boards for long enough and seen so many people burned its not even funny, and the information is out there.

Unfortunately with the popularity of airsoft there is a HUGE market for knock off stuff, and it ends up in real gun shops. Even though its a constitutionally mandated function of government to regulate protected trade items its probably one of the loosest regulated things in this country.

$225 in slightly used condition. I knew it was a little too good to be true but I was hopeful.
