The bill is sitting on Gov. Jerry Brown's desk. So good by to any type of open carry in California.

One of the comments in the comment section is a jewl: "Thousands and Thousands of guns are stolen; thanks gun owners for supplying the criminals.":angry:

This has more to do with suppressing free speech then gun control. People carrying unloaded guns have received national attention in the media and has been a conduit for getting their message out. This is a tactic that the left has used for years and they know how effective it can be. The best way to stop them is pass a law barring them from doing it.

Yeah when their main point as to why the law should be passed has to do with "scaring the public", then there is no justification behind it. If they wanted to replace the law with a standard concealed carry, that would work.

I'm not a big fan of open carry myself, as it lets criminals know who is armed and who isn't. It is also a high value item and you do end up attracting attention as if you were wearing an expensive watch or were flashing a lot of cash around. There have been a number of robberies in open carry states where the only thing the criminals took was the victim's firearm. Probably after they saw gun in open carry, assessed its value, assessed the risk, and made their move when they determined the owner could be ambused accordingly.

California used to be a trend setter. Those days are long gone. It is now a poster child for smaller government and more freedom.

Just another POV here. It no secret that CA has been overrun by left wingers who hate everything about the way most of us on this forum live our lives. CA is done, done, done. No way to reverse the effects & majority at this point. But, there are left winger freakshows in every state, even yours, who watch us here in the "Golden State" to see which laws work & which one's don't. We are the testing grounds for ridiculous legislation day in & day out like lab rats. Don't fool yourself for a second to think that your liberal politicians aren't watching us closely for ideas. I hope more than anything that our disease never infects the rest of the country, but never say never. Don't ever let your guard down.

Yes, the OC ban would suck simply because we've taken another lashing & been stripped of another right, but it's pretty useless anyway. I recently got my CCW which I thought would be very difficult, but It was a piece of cake. I asked the detective, as he was escorting me out of the PD from my interview, about how he felt about issuing CCW's. He responded with "I think it's great that more honest citizens are arming themselves. With the cuts in patrol officers right now, we might not make it to a call in time."

If all goes as planned, I'll be relocating the family to CO in a few years before my oldest hits JR high school. I'll be giving this shithole the bird as I cross the state line. I don't want to raise my family in this f'ed up environment.
