Hello folks.

Ad-Recon or Ad-Recon-X for a Vortex Viper 2-7? This is for a coyote rifle. http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/vortex-viper-2-7x32-riflescope-versa-plex-c3-reticle

Thanks.

.

It is personal preference.
If you run NTCH then you'd probably need the "X" but I can't imagine needing anything more forward than what a Recon can do.

Heck, after you experiment and play with the scope a while, you may find you can get away with a Recon S mount.

But maybe it's just me...

What questions do you still have that were not already addressed in that above thread.

Good point. I should have gone through my posts. Sorry.

ETA - Although, that thread is almost four years old. Plus, there have been some dimension changes with the Recon-X or the Recon. Supposedly, the two mounts now have the same dimensions between the inside and outside of the rings. Unfortunately, ADM doesn't show this on their site. They still show the old dimensions given to me almost a year ago.

Yeah, I'm taking my sweet time in finally buying a mount. :)

I spent some time taking some measurements on my rifle, and as long as they are correct, I can't possibly see how anything but an AD-Recon-X would work.

With the rifle shouldered, the pivot pin of my BUIS is 3.75" to 4" from my eye, which just so happens to be the eye relief of the Vortex Viper 2-7x32. I'm not absolutely positive here, but I'm guessing the furthest to the rear I can have the base of the mount is 1/4" in front of the BUIS, which leaves leaves about 1/2" of rail space in front of the mount, meaning there is about 1/2" of fore and aft adjustment of the mount on the rail.

The front and rear of the scope turret section (between the two scope rings) is 6.9" and 5.5" from the rear most part of the scope, which will be measureed from the pivot pin of the BUIS, and is marked on the paper fastened to my rifle. The inside to inside measurements of the rings are 3.83" and 6.03" from the rear of the base, and are marked as A" on the paper when slid as close to the rear as possible (1/4" from the front of the BUIS). "B" indicates the inside of the rings when the mount is slid as far forward as possible on the rail.

If my measurements are correct, I would need to slide the mount as far forward as possible, and the turret section would still barely clear the front scope ring. Personally, I very much dislike the look of turret sections coming into contact with scope rings, but there's not much a person can do when one shoots very close to NTCH.

I'll make marks on the paper using Bobro measurements too. I personally think the Bobro has a cleaner look to it, but the ADM allows you to change to different diameter rings. With Bobro, you're forced to buy another $200 mount.

Bobro is lighter, cleaner looking (to me anyway), and you can swap out to different rings. That's the one I've decided to get.
