Ok so I've decided I will listen to you guys and cancel the order on one of my del ton rifle kits. So now the question is what is the best bang for my buck upper ,and I would like to have it with in 2 weeks so no back oder crap like del ton. So i would like to hear a few opinions.

For an extra $185, you can get a Noveske upper (http://noveskerifleworks.com/cgi-bin/imcart/display.cgi?item_id=lrb-556&cat=138&page=1&search=&since=&status=).

I'd look into PSA.

I'm not sure exactly what they run, but I would go for a Daniel Defense, BCM, Centurion, LMT, or Noveske. If none of them are in that price range I would save until I could flip for it. Any of them will pay of in the long run.

Give Grant at G&R Tactical a call. Not sure about current lead times, but given $600 to invest, you're likely in good shape for a proper BCM, LMT, Daniel Defense, S&W or even Colt upper.

One hell of an in-stock upper.

And G&R has BCM carbine uppers for $426 with a MOE carbine HG, AND they have a 6940 for $600 on the nose.

Just remember that you will also need a BCG. That BCM upper with a BCG added and some handguards (Magpul MOE) will bring you in around 640.00.

Wow... there are a ton of great options.

If your're feeling price conscious, I would do a Palmetto State Armory complete upper as was suggested. They have some nice options that might allow you to use that rifle length handguard you mentiond already having... not sure though.

If you like some of the other uppers that were suggested and want to shave more money, get the upper without a BCG and CH and then get them from Palmetto (http://palmettostatearmory.com/1746.php) for about $127 shipped (Just make sure you select the CH in the drop down menu). That would bring that sweet BCM upper down to just over $600 I think.

BCM would be the best, however for $600 you can get a complete PSA carbine now.

Its shows SOLD OUT.
I think the BCM that was posted is the best complete upper/barrel for the money right now.

I assure you that it will bring you years more enjoyment than that Del-Ton would have, at comprable price.

Everyone seems to be jumping on the PSA bandwagon, but there have been several reports of issues on the TOS.

I would personally wait until they are a bit more established. Let's see how their stuff is working out long term.

Until then, finding a quality upper from BCM or LMT for $600 is pretty easy to do. Known quality.

My feelings exactly.

I'm still a little unsure of how they can be selling a product on the level of BCM, DD, or LMT, yet be so much cheaper...

I'll wait and watch for a while before I touch their stuff...

I own Colt.
But for $600 and I am not going to war ..PSA in my opinion is a option for the guys like me who want to build a project rifle for less. I dont think its a Colt or DD or BCM...and maybe not the best for my money..but the whole gun only cost me $600...

Glad to see you're doing this. No question you will look at this a year from now and be very glad you did.
If I were given your budget, and building was not part of the discussion, as per those that really know:

Your best bets - for the money: BCM - by far the proven #1 choice. (Or Colt - but not sure if at that price...)
Just checked and Grant (G&R) has a 14.5 " lightweight in stock. All set up w. Gunfighter#4, BCG, at $580.
You'll never want to go heavy barrel again! Or be a bit patient and wait for 16"...

Get the basic set up, you can always add those cool (xpensive) rails and shit, but if you make sure heart and soul of the rifle - barrel and BCG - are tops, everything else is optional and disposable as you figure it out.

If you really want that other option, Spikes Tactical is a good 2nd - their specs are right up there and priced right & very competitive... - which's the ONLY way they've had a chance to redeem themselves.....They are still suffering a slight money related image issue, but in all fairness their gear is GTG.
They have several uppers available at AIM exactly in your range-in stock, free s/h.

All that being aid - if you're able to score a complete BCM upper from Grant at that price, I'd consider it a home-run any day by any standard.

ps - PSA I'd hold off - they're yet to be vetted, and so far it's not perfect.
