I have been working on my one and with a Disaster Relief Team on some of the fires in Texas. Thought some of the images might interest some of you. This was the house of a retired Texas Ranger. I tried to save what I could of his family's sentimental possessions. He and his son were Marines and his son died 2 years ago and I helped find and dig out his son's urn. I also was able to salvage the remains of his gun collection. Tried to do what I could for a fine American who has served us well.

Wow, i salute you good Sir.

I think I speak for every Texan when i say, THANK YOU! To all of the people coming from out of state to help with the wild fires.

This actually reminds me of the numerous DPS Troopers that packed their cars and drove down to New Orleans when Katrina hit. They were deputized by the Lou. St. Police and lived out of their cars for like 3 weeks.

I cannot imagine what antique collection him and others have lost in the fires. I know we pass things down in this state, and those items are very important.

Thanks for helping them!

I had a cousin and her family loose all of the Earthly possessions to the fire that swept across Bastrop.

Appreciate the kind words. I am from Texas.

It is I guess like all disasters a humbling experience for us all. I dug up 2 urns so far. Unfortunately they did not hold up well and when you hand what is left of a mostly destroyed urn to the wife or the Mother... it is as if they lost them all over again and what closure they had has been ripped away.

For the most part most home owners were pretty stoic and positive.

The rancher I spoke to who watched his cows burn was not doing well at all. I fought the barn fire at Ruidoso Downs back when I was kid and watched all the burning horses running around into things and it stays with you. I really feel for him and empathize with his feelings of .....more a sense of failure and guilt than loss.

Everyone I have dealt with has been wonderful, tho it is a very solemn type of work so not much in the way getting to know people. All of the Christian organizations I have seen just helping and loving and no preaching. Very respectful in how they are handling things.
