View Full Version : Carbine or Mid length Gas system
What are the Pros and Cons of the carbine and midlength gas systems, And which do you prefer? I know this has probubly been covered many times before, but i was unable to find it using the search button. I am going with Daniel Defense. I just need to figure out what gas system I would like or need. This will be my first AR

Search is your friend.
To answer your question, the Daniel Defense will serve you very well. I have carbine and middy guns and at the moment am shooting a Colt 6920 for work.

+1 on this.
There has been an ongoing thread for a week now.
Its personal preference if you ask me.

my answer is, it depends...
on a 16" barrel I prefer a midlength, on 14.5 I prefer the carbine.
Me: 16" mid.
I run standard front sight bases versus a low-pro gas block and a long rail (mostly cuz I'm cheap). I have orangutan arms so the extra length on the handguard is important for me. They fit me better which means I shoot them better.
So for the lower cost of a "basic" rifle (standard handguards with FSB) you can have better ergonomics (if that applies to you), but with 16" you've still got the freedom to change things out later if you want or when you have the money.
Go with a Piston Middie 7.5 LWRC!!! in 6.8 spc!!!

This for me. For the same reason.
*heavy sigh*
