Hey, just wondering if using a boresnake for a AR (.223), is it better to go with the .22 size, or the .24?
Thanks in advance!

I use the .22 rifle one. Works just fine in .22 lr and in AR's.

That's actually a good idea. The .24 would probably work fine although the .22 is made for the .22 caliber.
I'd try the .24. I would make sure you get the newer Boresnake "Viper" for sure though.
I went with .22 though it lists .22, .223, and 5.56 (not just .22). Even if this wasn't the case I would rather error in having it like .004 smaller then .016 larger, at least in this instance.
Works just fine too in my oppinion

Thanks everyone! BTW, what is the "Viper" version?

That's the same thing I did and it seems to work fine.

Back in the day when my ARs were all Del-Ton, I briefly used a .243/6mm BoreSnake left over from a .243 my dad had sold off. Yanking that thing through took so much effort it felt like the paracord "leader" was going to break every time. Having used properly-sized BoreSnakes before, I might have done more damage than good. :o Have since bought the right size, and cleans easier and just as well.
I can tell you from experience that it's not a good idea to shove a 24 caliber bore brush through a 22 caliber bore. A brass brush won't hurt a steel barrel, but when it gets stuck- it's stuck! I have also heard that the Viper will not take as much tugging as the original bore snake. Folks have complained the leader isn't attached as well and breaks off easier. Haven't tried it myself though, could be just another myth
I've heard of people having trouble with the Viper version too. I am sticking to the green ones.
What the hell?
We needed a whole thread to ask what size bore-snake to use?
A bore-snake is soooo complex and has soooo many moving parts and sub-assemblies that it rates its own thread...
...right?
It's a BORE-SNAKE. :suicide:
