would i be better off with a chest rig? Looking for a quick on and off 2-3 mag carry setup.

Not sure about others but I dont find the tech loks fast off and on. It takes me a less than a minute to manipulate the lock for each one.

For quickness I think a small chest rig would be the fastest. Because in one movement you have the whole thing on. Or maybe a duty belt set up with mag carriers already attached, you could throw the duty belt on over whatever you are wearing, it wouldn't be ideal but you could make it work, and the benefit of either the chest rig or duty belt, is you could have back up pistol mags and a source of light too, all in one movement.

The Ready Tactical ones that SKD sells have been pretty bomber for me. Quick on/off but secure on the belt. Universal for AR mags. Quick draw but excellent retention.

I've used the Blade Tech Loks and Ready Tacticals, but I much prefer the Comp Tac offering: http://www.comp-tac.com/product_info.php?products_id=32

Does anyone know where the Minotaur Belts are made?
Very nice looking belts.

The Brownells are good for range shooting. Using them in a class is fine I just feel there are plenty of other good options.
For courses I typically use Blade-tec, or Eagle FB pouces. The Comp-Tac are great too but, I only use them for my pistol mags.
As far as the chest rig goes, entirely up to you. Plenty of thoughts on that on this forum for sure. Whole different animal.

I carry everything on my belt or separate belt set-up.

Seems to me you'd want both first line and second line gear rather than chest rig only. I've been taught that the purpose of a chest rig is to feed the first line gear - the belt. I don't see a situation for myself where I'd ever be using a chest rig alone. Mostly what I see is a couple of mag pouches on the belt and 3-5 pouches on the chest rig. At a recent course, one of the guys had a couple of those Brownell mag pouches...they worked fine for him and they're a bargain at $20 IMHO. Blade-Tech also makes a good AR15 mag pouch.

I have a couple of items that I use with TekLoks and have no problem with them. They're fast on and fast off, secure to the belt positively and are adaptable to different belt sizes.
