Hello,

I have an H-BAR SPORTER Colt set aside so I can do some research before I buy it. It has all "C" markings indicating it's Colt, however, the hammer has an "S" marking. I would like to know if this is an actual Colt hammer or one the original owner swapped out. The gun is in like new condition incredibly.

I have looked on google, searched forums and can't find a clear answer.

Please refrain from giving unsure information. I like facts.

Thanks all!

I stumbled upon this sight a while back not sure if they have an answer but you can try it out http://www.biggerhammer.net/ I'm not familiar with that model though. I just was looking for markings on a sporter and found it there.

This may help.

Identifies the mfg of the trigger as LW Schneider, but doesn't comment on whether they supply Colt.

500 piece minimum lots, though.

They must be pretty serious.

The trigger in the OPs gun is factory.

I don't think Schneider manufactures any cast parts. The "S" on the OP's trigger indicates it is manufactured by a casting company in Chicago, IL who shall remain unnamed because it doesn't really matter.

LW Schneider makes FCG parts for many companies, Colt included. They also make many other parts for many other companies and they have much knowledge of firearms, it's not a bad thing.

Funny they don't mention any FCG parts on their website. Must be secret squirrel stuff...

The "S" is for "Schmid".

Hmm. I had the same markings on the hammer in a Smith and Wesson. Nice to know.

Going to research a little more.

Nope, just a plain ol' S in a circle. I passed up the buy, mostly because I'd rather pay 3-400 more for a "not-so-sporter" Colt. Mostly for personal likes.

That's what DD lpk's come with. Just an observation.

"And that's a good thing..."

The Colt LPK I just got from Grant has an S stamped on all its parts, including the selector.
