Does any one have any suggestions on where to pickup a 18 inch 870 barrel? I got a great deal on an 870, BUUUUUUUUUUUT it came with an 28inch ribbed barrel. I've been looking around with no luck. I also need to get sell this 28 inch barrel. So guys please give some good suggestions. I take an old police model barrel if yous have one laying around.

Thanks
Brad

I had an Express awhile back that came with a 20" (I think) barrel and I also wanted the 18". My dealer ordered one for me, then took the old barrel in on trade. I think he gave me about $75 for it.

I have a 20" Police model now that I'd like to also trade out the barrel for an 18", just haven't done it yet.

cathellsk, If the barrel isn't ribbed, have it cut down to 18inches.

Thats what I've been thinking too. I'd send it to Vang Comp for the chop and get rifle sights put on it.

By the time you get done with shipping and the Vang costs to chop, add rifle sights and refinish the barrel, it's cheaper to buy a Remington 18" IC Rifle Sighted barrel from Brownells...PLUS, you'll have 2 barrels. One for SD, and one for the field. This is one of the nice things about a "Shotty". Versatility!

Don't know if you got your barrel but here's this from a previous thread...

found this on Shotgunworld, hope it helps:

"I posted this 'across the street' just the other day.
(A guy was looking for the same barrel).
Note that 99.999% of the barrels offered from Remington are 18-1/2", not 18".

Thanks for the details Mike!

I think you're right, they are 18 1/2" barrels.

I got mine off gunbroker NIB. Pretty good prices on there.

I think with the 18.5" bbls the 2 shot extension matches the bbl length. I know mine does.
