Hello,

I have been on a search for a nice high quality holster than would be used for run and gun type shooting for my somewhat new M&P 45, 4.5" with an Streamlight TLR-1. I am having a hard time searching for this as it seems most use some sort of custom kydex which if I could make I would but with work right now that is not going top happen.

Any recommendations or help would be great! Thanks in advance!!! :)

Safariland ALS. Go to copquest.com and pick the model that suits your needs.

I have ran with my gun several times and it works great. ;)

Joking aside, I carry an M&P45/X300 in a 6325 daily and I love it.

I've been happy with my Raven Concealment Phantom kydex holsters for my M&P9 both with and without my Streamlight TLR-3 attached.

There are lots of other quality options out there though... probably with shorter lead times, no doubt...

It sort of depends what type you want too... IWB, OWB, drop-leg, retention, etc.

See this thread:

it should answer provide some info for you.

Bottom line for me:

I run Personal Security Systems holsters and could not be happier. I can recommend them both from a product and CS standpoint. The gear is solid and Steve is a great guy to deal with. Wait time is currently 45 days which is also pretty nice as compared to some of the other makers out there.

Thanks for all the responses.

I have reveiwed through all the reccomendatios and they all seem very promising. The Raven Concealment does look like something I would like to try out. But who knows they all look good maybe I will order them all and post my own review :)

I second the nod for Steve/Heather @ Personal Security Systems holsters:

I just received almost the exact holster you are asking about ( M&P9 with TLR-1s,) from PSHolsters last week and I am very happy with the unit. I have used Raven and a few others and these units are top notch with half the wait time and price. I will try to remember to post up a pic of mine later tonight if I get a chance to snap a few shots. I got one for my P226R with light and one for the M&P9 with light.

when I had my M&P .45 I carried it in one of these:

It hid quite well under just a t-shirt and it was very well priced. 30 days is quite a bit longer then I had to wait but it is still a lot faster then raven.

The original poster said he's looking for a holster to use in some kind of shooting match. While I love and have the Raven holsters, I wouldn't recommend it for his purpose. The Raven is an excellent rig for concealed carry but due to its concealment quality, it may not be the best choice for competitions. This goes to other rigs that are similar to the Raven.

The Safariland is a good choice and I would also recommend Blade Tech. They'll work for competitions and also for training use where multiple draws and holstering is required.

Those type of holsters position the gun grip farther away from the body to allow very quick presentations. Although they are not suitable for everyday concealment.

Safariland ALS, very secure, very fast and has the most flexible mounting options.

If you are competing with your carry gear then Raven hands down.

There are other kydex holster makers but as always YMMV.

I can also recommend Comp-Tac's belt holsters for the same purpose. Very well built and solid, come off the body decently so not great for CCW unless it's mighty cold out. I have one for my Glock 17 w/ TLR-1.
