Sweet thread...not a hunter but just recently tried to setup a trail cam in my backyard.
I need some more corn and better stuff to feed them and place in front of my camera, however I did officially capture my first deer last night on it. Hopefully I can contribute more in the future as I'm doing this to get some pics of the numerous big bucks that I often see this time of year.
I can't wait to capture something like that monster you got on film, what a Buck!!

I love when a good group of mexies comes into the watering hole. There is nothing that get my blood going more:mad:
Mountain Lion?
Yup. I've never seen one in the West Virginia woods before, but the camera at the hunting camp found one.
I've been considering one of these cams to check out the thousand deer that must bed behind the house, not to mention the odd claw marks that I'm thinking were left by a black bear.
Can you guys post what camera models you like or are using for these pictures?
I'm not quite sure I can recommend the one I own yet since I don't have very much experience with it yet, however it has the features that I think are important and is slightly under a $100 at wally world.
I don't like the fact that it takes so many batteries (8 double A).
Its the Bushnell 5.0 mp Night Vision TC:

It takes really great shots during the day, but I'm not convinced quite yet about the quality at night giving you have to play around w/ the IR settings.

Check this out. Plenty of reviews and tests to make a very informed decision. http://www.chasingame.com/

WOW!!!! I get hell all the time believing in panthers in Alabama, especially in the southern parts so I certainly believe the authenticity of that picture, with that said...have you sent that to any AL or FL dept. of Game and Fish officials? Love to see them try to spin that picture.
Huge fan of big cats, that picture is one of the best ones Ive seen ever on a TC.
If you look close, you can see where that Florida Panther already took a big swipe on the nut sack of that Boar - OUCHY Momma!!!
Yes, the Florida Fish and Game is aware of this cat, he has not been radio collared and is one of only 100 known cats in the state and one of the very few North of Ocala National Forest here in North Central Florida.
Can you imagine the noise when that cat sunk his teeth into that hog, would have raised the skin off a gator 5 miles away, simply awesome!!
Thanks for the reply, that picture is amazing!
That Panther is absolutely beautiful as well. The only thing left for you to capture on film is the infamous Pink Panther :D
cool pics thanks for sharing

Awesome Pics! Big Cat about to take down some prey
For anyone looking into getting a game camera these two pictures illustrate the nighttime abilities of these two cameras pretty well. I deal with a lot, a literal sh*t ton actually, of game cameras and I am always hearing someone make fun of cuddeback's trigger speed and CST (Center Shot Technology) claims. Hard to argue with the photo evidence, especially considering the clarity of the pictures and how much faster the hog and cat were moving than the deer.

To be sure, my Bushnell is no Reconyx or Buckeye, and I wouldn't try to defend it in any way. I have no brand loyalty in this regard, but it has been a pretty good piece of kit. But you know, I think you're kind of comparing apples to oranges here...flash versus IR, although I think your point still has its merits.
However, I am a hunter to the point of lunacy, and constantly study things like trail cameras, etc. I cannot think of a single complaint that I have heard about Cuddeback's trigger speed or CST. The only complaints I can remember have to do with Cuddeback's poor durability and that abomination they call Customer Service.

Yeah that's probably not a fair comparison on my part. I retract my statement (part of it anyway) :D. Some of Bushnell's cameras do take excellent pictures, especially in the daytime, and I haven't had the pleasure of speaking with Cuddeback's CS dept yet.

This is from a trail cam of sorts......my iphone. Weirdest thing I've ever witnessed with a deer.....I spooked her as I was going down the trail (from setting up my blind), she stopped, after her initial sprint, and I hit the brakes. I started calling to her like I would a dog, and she walked from 35 yds away to within about 7 yds and just stood there checking me out. Had I had some food I'm pretty sure she would have came all the way up. Never seen anything like it.

I got a couple. I'm 98% positive it's the deer in the photo's

I'm starting to like this trail cam thing I've been using hand me down camera's from my Nephew and Brother. I'll have to pick up a couple of my own soon. Old dog new tricks and all. I want to try a mock scrape and see what shows. http://i690.photobucket.com/albums/vv261/rr556/Deercam42_zps54198727.jpghttp://i690.photobucket.com/albums/vv261/rr556/Deercam415_zpsdc3ff4ea.jpg

I've been looking for this one for two seasons.
Haven't gotten him on camera since this was taken and haven't heard of anyone killing one this size in my area.
Hope he is still around. He is a nice one.

We had this trap set for hogs, along with a camera to record how many we were dealing with, and caught this instead (he was quickly released unharmed!). Nice 5x5 California Blacktail!

How long was he in there? Surprised he didn't hurt himself.
Just a couple of hours. He seemed fine.
