Those are called glider suits. I saw a special a while back about a base jumper who was considered the best in the world and he used one of those suits. He jumped from a Helo and was trying to glide under the New River Gorge Bridge in WV. Well apparently he screwed up and hit the railing.

Imagine hitting post rails at 100 mph. It was like a cheese grater.

I can't explain why, but that looks fun while bungeee jumping looks stupid as hell.
Maybe it's the thought of scaring the crap out of motorists on that road. "Honey, was that guy that just flew by?"
