I recently bought a M44 and some 7.62x54r ammo. The guy I got the ammo from did not remember what it was and he no longer had the original container it came in, he was really no help at all. I'd like to know what I have as I bought a fairly good amount of it due to the price. Any help is much appreciated.

The ammo has a silver tip, black primer and two seperate markings on the rim, one is "67" and on the opposite side "bxn". They came in 20 round blue boxes with no markings on the boxes other then being stamped with a "B" or a "P". Here is a pic, I can take more if needed.

Nevermind. It was suprisingly easy to locate the info thanks to this site http://62x54r.net/. Looks like I have Czech steel core light ball made in '67, they have a nice breakdown of the same ammo from '63. http://62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinAmmo011.htm Next time I'll search a bit harder before posting. I had no idea there would be this much info on 7.62x54r ammo out there.

I shot a bunch of them when I had a M44 carbine. It’s good stuff and should work well for you.

I got some of those a while back from AIM when they had them. My Mosin loves them.

Glad to hear it. I haven't had a chance to get out and shoot the Mosin yet but everything I've read about this particular ammo has been good so I'm looking forward to it.
