"Broke" and "couldn't resist" is a dangerous combination when it comes to Colt 1911s. :D Congrats on your new pistol.

How much did you get it for? Let us know how it shoots once you get to the range.

Some years back I picked up a shooter grade 1911 ( in the 10,000 serial range) that is straight other than a WWII period barrel, shipped in 1913. Date of shipment is in the books. Assuming that I am still here to do it, I will shoot it on its 100th anniversary.

I am inclined to think it will be around for the 200th, too.

60 rounds fired today no failures, but DAMN i got like 6 hot shells to my forehead,
Could it be no beveled and lowered ejection port?

Rather than the lack of a flared or lowered ejection port, I would think it more likely an extractor tension issue...

Congrats on buying the best Government Model Colt has ever made- the quality of the current production blued 70 series gun is unmatched in the history of Colt

The older guns definately hold a special place in the history of the 1911 but for a serious shooting Colt you just got the cream of the crop

Enjoy!!

Thats too bad, did you ever contact Colt to see if it could be remedied?? The brass to the head I mean.

Probably water under the bridge at this point. Going to lock this one up to prevent any further confusion.
