You can find his mugshot here:

http://news.brevardtimes.com/2011/11/brevard-county-sheriffs-office-raids_04.html

Apparently his business practices caught up with him.

First reported on BrevardTimes.com, the Brevard County Sheriff's Office raided a Cape Canaveral business located at 8700 Commerce Street at around 6:00 p.m. yesterday.

Public records show that the business located at this address is that of Jonathan Arthur Ciener, Inc., a company that advertises gun conversion kits on www.22lrconversions.com.

On the Web, there appear to be several consumer complaints about www.22lrconversions.com.

Jonathan Arthur Ciener was arrested and charged with schemes to defraud less than $20,000, which is a third degree felony.

**** him, hope he gets to spend the weekend in jail. One of the biggest pricks in the gun business, and doesn't even have the compensation of making good products to slightly offset his personality.

The son of a bitch cheated me out of a couple of hundred bucks five years ago. He even looks like a sleazoid.

For a guy who helped pioneer the civilian suppressor industry he sure doesn't have too many fans.

I only know him for early suppressors and machine gun conversions. Seems like a LOT of people don't care for him though. IIRC he did a pretty lengthy jail term once in the past.

Back to Ciener, I regret not suing him. I had too much other stuff going on at the time.

I've heard myriad tales of his lousy customer service, but what did he do that constitutes fraud? (honestly curious)

Disagree. The one on the left (not in the polka dots) is really very nice. The other one is easily doable, especially if you are doing time.

In my case, I bought a conversion which did not fit my $2K Les Baer target pistol. I called a dozen times, left messages and sent two letters. No response. I boxed the thing up and sent it back USPS. I got a letter back demanding a $30 "inspection fee" plus return shipping or my conversion would be considered "abandoned". I wasn't going to give the bastard another penny so I lost the conversion. They did offer, if I shipped them my pistol ($50+ each way) to fit the converter to the pistol, promisign not to alter the pistol, for $30 additional. Of course I wasn't too eager to send my prized pistol to someone I had concluded was an unscrupulous thief.

Two lessons I learned: If they don't answer the phone, don't do business with them. If they don't take a credit card, don't do business with them. If I had been able to use a CC it would have been as easy as a phone call to dispute the charges. I know two merchants in the whole United States that do not take a credit card, Jonathan Arthur Ciener and Everybody's Restaurant (http://maps.google.com/maps/place?q=Everybody%27s+Restaurant,+Baldwin,+FL&hl=en&cid=1260365558859042220) in Baldwin Florida. Hell, even Shack By The Track (http://maps.google.com/maps/place?q=Shack+By+the+Track+Ice+Cream,+Jackson+Street,+GA&hl=en&cid=10920603107102020617) in St. George, GA takes a CC.

By the way, if you are ever in Baldwin or St George and you leave hungry, it is not my fault.

The conversions are GARBAGE.

The mag is so tight we had to grind the sides down and you have to rack it every other shot.

I would do like he says and "play with your other toys"

The one we had was for a Glock...not AR.

I would much rather have a dedicated .22 AR platform.

Yeah... My buddy has one of those Glock conversions... company out of California... they are nice.

A complete upper half that goes on your AR? Great! Running rimfire in a real AR barrel? Grody!

I also fail to see the problem with running .22LR in an AR.

Can you explain why? I have yet to find a dedicated .22LR uppers that I can use on my Full-auto receiver. The only one that I have been able to use is the Ceiner M-16 kit and it runs great. Absolutely no malfunction in thousands of rounds.

So unless there is another option available out there, I think your statement above is pretty ignorant and short-sighted. JM2CW.

Or it could just be this...

Eisenmenger said that his client was able to provide records to the State Attorney's office which demonstrated that thousands of orders had been filled and that the lengthy back orders represented less than 1 % of all orders.

Eisenmenger added that the money for the back orders was always kept in a separate account and not used for operating expenses while Ciener continued to process and ship a unique product that is in high demand.

That said, Ceiner should simply refund the backorders of upset customers. Would have saved him some time and money.

Not a nice guy and I wouldn't voluntarily do business with him again, even before any of this happened. All I tried to do was ask him one question about the new product I had bought, and he was incredibly rude. Fortunately, another user answered the question in a forum.

That said, just being brutally honest: the ONE 1911 conversion I bought from him, works great and is accurate (through an estimated 5K rounds, using a variety of Federal, CCI, Remington, and Win .22 ammo).
