My sincere condolences for the loss of your friend.

I use to sell firearms for a sporting goods chain back in college. They had a customer bring a live round into the store concealed in his pocket, asked to see a gun from behind the counter, chambered the round and proceeded to commit suicide there in front of everybody. After that the store policy was changed to where any firearm being handed to a customer had to have a trigger lock installed prior to handing it over.

People are insane.
