Can the Knights Armament push button swivel and M4 sliding buttstock mount P/N 98722 be mounted on a LMT SOPMOD buttstock? I would rather go this route than the GG&G swivel that has to use an additional spacer.

Yes it replaced the castle nut and end plate.

GotM4, I think you confused the item he is talking about, P/N 98722, with one that goes on the extension... His item is one that bolt to the regular M4 buttstock, just like the GG&G Sling Thing.

If I have read this right, then YES, the KAC swivel mount will work, but it will be no different than the GG&G mounting point and method.

I personally do not like that method as it relies on one of the THINNEST areas of material on the LMT SOPMOD, and could crack, IMO. After a lot of searching, reading and looking at pics, I opted for a different sling attachment method for the SOPMOD that uses a mounting point intended for use (thicker, robust sleeve). See the thread on it <HERE: SOPMOD sling solution> (https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=9014)...

KAC makes a nice one that works well on the LMT stock, Midwest Industries makes one that works with standard QDs as well.

P/N 98722 requires two slots or holes to be cut/drilled in the LMT stock to work. This part was originally designed for the standard Colt stock. Certain aftermarket stocks require slight modification to work.P/N 24103 requires removal of the buffertube for install but in my opinion moves the sling to a position that balances the rifle better. The new SR-15 IWS actually has these sling attach points integrated into the lower reciever as well as 5 on the URX.
In our testing the push button uncle mikes style sling swivel help up to about 500 or so lbs. and the one piece cast swivel had a rating over double that(I don't remember exactly).A swivel or sling should purposely fail at a desired rate to prevent snagging; that rate is subjective.
I have also seen grommets that thread in from both sides that works very well in this aplication. I think they are availible from Brownells and require drilling a 1/2 inch hole or so to install. If you look closely at the SR-15 carbine on our web site you will see a stock with this type of mount installed. They are cheap as I recall too.

If you don't mind the QD loop not having full 360 degree rotation, the 98722 will fit the LMT Sopmod just fine with no drilling/filing at all.

If you do not need 360 rotation of the swivel- which I do not need. It works fine without doing so.
