A federal judge in Denver is allowing the lawsuit to move forward.

Also of news, the US Supreme Court declined Monday to take up a potentially important gun rights case examining whether a federal regulation banning loaded firearms from vehicles in a government park violated the constitutional right to keep and bear arms.

i would really like to see schools "challenged"

at least with the PO i can leave it in the car. you're screwed with schools, and the fact they have included private daycares too. sucks. (at least in FL)

I think one of the challenges with schools versus the post office is you're dealing with state, county and city laws when dealing with schools and the PO restrictions are due to federal law. I haven't done any research on this so if I'm wrong please feel free to correct me.

IIRC the federal school ban was over turned a few years ago. It’s just state laws now.

If I remember correctly, Colorado's school ban is only for public schools. We can also leave it locked in the car.

Just wait till someon says you can't have guns if you homeschool your kids ;)

Post office is a bit odd since it is federal, but not really govt.

I want to see the laws on "child accessibility" challenged. In TX if your kid gets into your guns its a crime.

Seems contrary to Heller decision allowing for accessible firearms for self defense.

The original ban was struck down, but IIRC they put up a modified version that says you have to have a state-issued carry permit to come within 1000' of any school.

The one law that I want to see disappear is the Lautenberg shit. Especially for anyone that was convicted, plead guilty, etc.. before the law was enacted. I still do not understand how a misdemeanor and a retroactive law can take away the right to own firearms.

The inmates have taken over the asylum.

This is the case as was explained during a course on the legal carry of firearms in Colorado I took after getting my CCW.

Per the Colorado State Shooting Association:

Licensed Colorado permit holders may NOT carry in the following places:

Any place prohibited by federal law (e.g. federal offices or courthouse).
Any property of public school grades kindergarten through 12, unless the firearm remains inside a container in a locked vehicle.
Any public building that prohibits ALL weapons which posts guards and permanent metal detectors at all entrances and requires all entrants to surrender handguns to security personnel before entry.

The president of the CSSA is Anthony Fabian, an attorney who specializes in Colorado gun rights. When everybody else is guessing what the laws are in Colorado, I listen to him. He has actually argued them repeatedly in court.

And "they" wonder why someone would want to carry a gun in a post office. Post office worker fires shots in post office! (http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_SHOTS_FIRED_POST_OFFICE?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2011-12-02-11-41-24)
