Many thanks for Failure2Stop's contributions to the forum, the Marine Corps, and our country. Bit more at my blog but dude needs a shout out after having had this for over a year and not freaking telling me so I had to hear about it secondhand!
On 08 April 2004, Third Platoon was escorting an Army Heavy Equipment
Truck platoon from Taji Airfield to Camp Fallujah, Iraq. En route a
convoy of civilian contractors in 18-wheeled cargo trucks encountered
an obstacle in the town of Abu Ghurayb. The platoon's Alpha Section
moved forward to provide security for the vehicles as they evaluated
the obstacle. When the section moved up to the convoy they came under
heavy small arms, Rocket Propelled Grenade, and indirect fires from
both sides of the road. The 18-wheeled vehicle drivers panicked, jack
knifed two vehicles, and ran from the scene, separating the two
LAV-25s. Sergeant Failure2Stop dismounted with his scout team and emplaced
them to provide fires to both sides of the road. He then, under fire,
chased down two drivers of the 18-wheeled vehicles and convinced them
to return to their vehicles. He helped maneuver the LAV-25s to provide
security for the vehicles to leave the kill zone and helped direct
fires from the vehicles to engage enemy on both sides of the road. He
personally escorted the drivers to their vehicles and directed them
out of the engagement zone, while under fire. In the face of
relentless enemy fire, he continued to employ his scout team for over
30 minutes, never worrying for his personal safety, resulting in 10
confirmed enemy killed in action. During the engagement, one of the
vehicle commanders was shot in the abdomen. Sergeant Failure2Stop's scout
team covered the vehicle's withdrawl from the engagement zone,
allowing the vehicle commander to maneuver his vehicle to a covered
area to be evacuated. His courage allowed for the recovery of all
personnel from the engagement zone, and the safe return of all
personnel to Camp Fallujah.
Job well done, God bless!

Awesome F2S Semper Fi brother!
F2S is one of the most humble guys I know, like I always say those like him that 'do' don't have to talk about it.
Wow. Thank you, F2S. That's a heck of a thing to do.

It has been my experience that the best people I've met in my life brag the least about their own accomplishments.
Congratulations on the award F2S. Thank you for your service.

Guys, thanks for all the kind words.
Honestly, I just did what I was supposed to do in those situations.
There were some amazing acts of bravery that never got recognized by anyone other than those of us that were there.
I am more proud of what I did while at WTBn Quantico and CTC-RM than in combat. Being able to translate my experience and skills into a training program that would advance the skill of every Marine in the Corps drove me to do the very best that I could do within the constraints of the program. Lots of long days behind the computer and on the range. While I wish that the program had grown and evolved better than it has, it is still light-years ahead of where we were for common training.

You know, we hear these words a lot from the people we call heroes. Somehow I am not surprised to hear them coming from you. And I would say that title fits you well.
I salute you good sir.

****in A Devil Dog.... I'm most impressed by your modesty. You can tell who has actually been there and done the damn thing by looking at who talks about what they have done and who does not...Those who have, usually do not find it a point of bravado or pride.... those that do.. don't have a ****in clue
It wasn't until my great uncle had died that we all, his wife of 34 years included, learned he was awarded the silver star twice, a bronze star, and 3 purple hearts.
Actions speak louder than words... and your actions coupled with the absence of avarice show why you earned the moniker FAILURE2STOP
god gave us life... the Marines gave us liberty.. SEMPER FI

Thanks for your service F2S. I know you in the service are just doing what ur supposed to and trained to do, but you all truly are heroes, everyone, some are just recognized.

That's just awesome is all I can say... Well done!
Glad to hear that FTS got the recognition it sounds as though he deserved. I'm sure the truck drivers appreciate his courage and clarity as well.

Not even just a little?
Hell he even ran back to pick up one of his favorite mags that he dropped.
I for one think you should also get a medal for your training program, because goodness knows how many lives it has helped to save since your input with the program! Great job behind the trigger be it combat or on the range with the troops! Both has saved many lives!
Same goes to everyone who makes those sacrifices so that we may continue to live the lives that we do and enjoy the freedoms that many often take for granted. I know I don't take anything for granted and appreciate every sacrifice made!
Thank you,
Surf
Thanks, and well done! Way to preach what you practice.
Maybe a little off base, but I've just got to ask- you wouldn't have happened to be naked at the time this was going down.... :p (sig)
