I'm currently deployed, but I want some damn Italian Salame like crazy right now. I know that we aren't supposed to heave pork products, but with that aside: will a dry salame go bad in the mail before it gets to me?

Packages generally take about 3 weeks to get to us, and I think they have to go through Bahrain which is hot as shit. Anybody know?

I was stationed in Bahrain and the weather is cooler this time of year. You are correct that the mail does route through there. I think that it would be fine.

as long as it is sealed, and it is indeed a hard style meat, I would say you'd be fine.

Walmart has summer sausages, pepperonis, and hard salami's just sitting out on the shelf, non-refrigerated. Granted those products aren't subjected to extreme hot and cold temperatures, I think it'll still be ok. If you can't find an online retailer that ships to an APO, and you are having someone personally ship you some, just ask them to pack it in dry ice.

If you need someone to send you some, just pm me and it'll be taken care of.

Thanks guys. I'll have my wife send me some Salami Barolo and maybe some Soprasotta too. If it makes me sick, well, SIQ isnt a bad way to spend a day haha.

I try to maintain a constant supply of Hickory Farms packages when deployed. If you haven't tried their meat, cracker, and cheese combos I recommend ordering or having somebody order you some. They are well packaged and will definitely be good to eat once they arrive.

Oh and is somebody seriously telling you not to get pork products? Even the most remote mountaintop OP's in Afghanistan have a regular supply of bacon. I can't imagine life without it, nor do I want to.

Im not a huge fan of hickory farms, but I may have to get some family members to run down to the local kiosk and send me something from them. As far as pork, TECHNICALLY speaking you cant mail pork products through USPS, but no one gives a shit. I just put that out there as a disclaimer for those who might warn me not to do it.

What, is the USPS halal now? I can understand there being a law against having pork in Bahrain, but who is the USPS to say whether I can mail a Hickory Farms Holiday Sampler within the USA? Sheesh.

You'd be shocked to see the regulations for shipping to an APO or FPO address :suicide:

-Obscene articles (prints, paintings, cards, films, videotapes, etc).
-Any matter depicting nude or seminude persons, pornographic or sexual items, or non-authorized political materials.
-Bulk quantities of religious materials contrary to the Islamic faith. Items for the personal use of the addressee are permissible.
-Pork or pork by-products.

Let us know if you need anything else shipped to you or your squad. Christmas is coming, and not getting mail when on a float during Christmas sucks.

Ask me how I know....
