I'm currently on the USS Pearl Harbor. Its nice to on our way to handing out ass-kickings in the Nation's Battlecry. And dinner in the messdeck was fantastic tonight too. A day we must never forget, and a day the Japanese will always regret. God Bless America.

The "black tears" of the Arizona, the slick formed by the oil still surfacing from her.

I spent many months aboard LSDs back in the day.

Stay safe on your deployment, I'm sure you won't be floating for long.

I watched a good show on the History Channel last night on Pearl Harbor, always good to see a good documentary on something as important as this.

My wife and I toured Pearl Harbor several years ago and visited the Arizona Memorial. After visiting the USS Missouri and experiencing firsthand just how huge these ships were, the experience of seeing the USS Arizona resting beneath the waves was very moving and brought home the enormity of what happened that day.

I join those that salute the memory of our American servicemen who died that day and offer my heartfelt gratitude to the survivors.

Moose - Thanks for posting those pictures. It was a very sobering moment every time we pulled in to Oahu and manned the rails on CVN-72. Raising old glory now!

I had the privilege to dive and take underwater photos on the USS Arizona some years ago
All on film have to scan the rest but was quite a honor and very rare thing so have quite the emotional connection

For sure honors to all and not just those on the USS Arizona !

It's sad so many of the vets are passing away cause hearing them first hand is a very moving thing

I will get some better scans this was really bad still have some copyright info on it but will put up some without my name on them :)

Thankfully I come from a generation that is mostly "very aware" of the significance of this date.

Tonight I'll be raising a glass to my grandfather, who died a year ago last May.

Master Gunner W.H. Coy
HQ Battery 815 AAA AW Bn
Schofield Barracks, T.H.

Grandpa was strafed that morning and narrowly missed by Japanese 20mm fire. I have a .50 BMG tracer round that he took off the belt of an M2 he finally got running shortly before the attack ended. It's headstamped LC 40.

I had the honor of leading the firing party at his funeral. The 03A3 I used will be a gun I'm going to keep forever.

I hope he enjoyed many "good years." Sadly not everyone was so fortunate that morning.

I have been to the Arizona as well. It is indeed a sobering thing, to stand in front of that wall of heroes. So very many names.... :(

Raise a glass to those that fought, and those that fell.
