Kramer horsehide IWB both for my 1911 and my normal carry piece, my Glock 23.

The Kramer horsey IWB that I have now has been used everyday for the past 13+ years and still stays open when I draw the pistol.

Both IWB and OWB. Fullsize.

I prefer OWB for obvious reasons. Infidel from CTAC is great for IWB and I have their paddle (speed) for OWB work.

Generally, 3 with OWB, 3:30-4 for IWB. Condition Zero.

Blade Tech kydex IWB, and Blade Tech kydex mag holder. Backed up by a S&W 442 carried in a DeSantis Nemesis holster. Although not always with the pictured T-shirt, even though it does stop bullets, enable me to leap tall buildings in a single bound, and choke people out with the Force.

On-duty, Safariland 6280 mid-ride. You do need a few hundred reps to get the SLS open every time. You don't need a drop-leg holster to deconflict your sidearm with your carbine, as proven in two carbine classes and my own practice. Every time Apocalypto comes on satellite TV, I take time to dryfire some transition drills and hostage rescue shots during the human sacrifice scenes.

Off-duty, Wild Bill's Concealment Summer Heat, a Summer Special clone, IWB at 3:00. Wild Bill's is proof you don't need to deposit a thousand bucks and wait a decade for quality, comfortable, long-wearing leather. Only gripe is, the belt loops are too large so I'll get a tighter one next time. I don't understand people who say you can't conceal a 1911 in hot weather. I just get my muscle shirts one size larger and nobody's the wiser. For less uncomfortable 1911 IWB carry, try a regular-sized thumb safety. I went all the way back to the A1 thumb safety for maximum delay of bad guys who gain control of my 1911.

More often than not IWB, as the vast majority of the time it's concealed. I'm looking to pick up a Comp-Tac IWB after the first of the year. I never really carry SOB anymore.

Galco COP 3-Slot at 3 o'clock in the high ride slot. I sold off almost all my other holsters after finding that this set up did everything for me.

OWB, Wild Bill's Concealment Contour Belt Slide (http://www.wildbillsconcealment.com/). The holster is very well made and holds my 1911 securely, yet it is still easy to draw. The setup is relatively comfortable, although my 1911 has a tendency to pull down my belt a bit. I don't notice it all the time, but enough to make it an issue to note.

As far as concealment goes...it seems to do the job. Most t-shirts will cover enough of the setup to carry it. The bulge from the pistol is minimal and when and if the bottom portion of the holster/pistol peaks out from under a shirt it isn't instantly recognizable for what it is (with my 4" barrel 1911).

Invest in a good quality leather gun belt and it will solve that problem..Make sure its one of the conture cuts..Makes all the difference in the world..

I carry a Para-Ord P12 in a cheapo DeSantis clip on holster, at 4-5 o'clock. Counterbalanced weak-side by a spare mag and SureFire flashlight.

I used to carry it SOB but read that is not good for your back if you fall.

HolyRoller

No it is not good for your back WHEN you fall on it!

The first rule of arranging stuff on a police duty belt is never put anything directly over your spine. I put keepers inboard of my cuff pouch on the right and flashlight on the left so this won't happen accidentally. For that matter, try not to carry ANYthing aft of your 3-9 line if you can help it.

I have a 33" waist and with all the gear, I find it hard not to put things forward of 3 and 9. Hell, even one of our new female officers (with a gorgeous figure and small waist) has a hard time keeping her gear from getting near her spine. I pissed myself laughing when another officer told her that our female officers have the perfect solution: "...they gain about 30 to 40 lbs.":D

Milt Sparks VM II or 55BN.

HolyRoller
12-05-07, 11:55
Yeah, Mojo, that's what I was going to suggest--if your waist is too small for your gear, just make it bigger. You still have a rookie waist!:D Get it up to XL, XXL, XXXL, or Sergeant, Lieutenant, Chief, respectively.

The 3-9 rule is supposed to be for long-term stress reduction on your lower back. I'm not sure how a cuff case or two will really make a difference. I think getting to the gym and safely strengthening your lower back is a better bet. Works for me so far.

For everyday concealed carry in leather, I think it is hard to beat Milt Sparks. I would go woth the 55BN or the Roadrunner. Both are great. In kydex, I would go with a Blade Tech or G-Code.

The original Milt Sparks "Yaqui Slide" on a 1 3/4" Instructors belt, with a #17 Single Mag pouch, or a Blade Tech Kydex outside the waistban holster.

IF I have to carry in a very skimpy situation, I have a Summer Special, but it's not nearly as comfortable as an outside the belt rig for 18 hours a day of carry.
