I happened to see this in Red Box a few nights ago and just had to laugh.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0873886/

There's no questioning the symbolism on the cover. A girl with an AK and RED STATE in big bold red letters. It's no surprise it shares the same name as the 2006 movie "Red State" a documentary about why so many Americans chose to re-elect Bush in 2004.

So they aren't trying to make you believe all Christians are like that, just people from a "Red State" maybe?
I'm not religious (though I don't have a problem with most believers) and even I see the propaganda involved here. How many stereotypical assault rifle totin', inbred, hillbilly, intelligible, gay hatin', Christian, red necks are in this movie? Because you may be kidnapped by a gang of them if you come to one of our red states. lol.
Yes, I know it's only a movie but it sounds more like it was spun off from one of Kevin Smith's or one of his lib pal's Twitter rants.

It's ironic how the ones railing against preachin' are the ones doing the preaching themselves.

that movie was kinda weird in my opinion... to me it almost seemed like a pro-revelation/rapture film than an anti-gun flick.

Almost as if, the head quack was right... and the rapture had begun, but it was somewhat disguised as just rational, explainable events such as the pot growers with the huge horn and trumpet blast.. it kind of solidified this position for me at the end when in the interview room at the ATF while going over the case report... they talked about how he was a quack, explained away the events that happened, and then said they are going to lock him away and "kill him with kindness"

just seemed as if those people at the end were those who would be left here to fight against in Armageddon, which the rapture would pre-empt...

maybe I'm just reading too much into it... but if you watch the film and just simply think what if the old quack isn't making it up... the rest seems to fall into place... especially due to the fact that more times than not the human mind attempts to rationalize things it cannot understand with simple scientific facts in order to comfort itself... instead of taking things as they are.

"...But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare."

it just doesn't say upon what timeline... could be over the course of a few decades...

e.t.a - I'm not religious, I just have an open mind to other opinions and pov's

Actually Kevin Smith has talked about this - he doesn't have any thing against people from Red States or anything like that - he was making a "horror film" based on real-life cults that have been exposed. It's not some big agenda against Christians in general - he just thought it was a subject matter that hadn't really been tapped in a dramatic way.

Obviously Kevin Smith is quite liberal (and kind of a waste now that he's a major pot-head) and his own views will skew what he creates - but we all do that, on both sides of any issue. That's why if you don't like the slant you see in Hollywood, the only solution is to make your own art - then you can slant it your way.

Well that's funny if he said that because the name of the movie doesn't really fit what he said. He doesn't have anything against people from Red States but the film's named Red State with a girl holding an AK on the front and by association this Red State is the place where this Waco-ish massacre takes place? I'm sure he was just trying to get a rise out of people like a lot of libs seem to be doing these days now that election time is coming up.

Sure, it's not a bad plot line as long as it's done in taste, but I have my doubts that anyone that biased will do it in good taste. Many of the mixed reviews reflect that.

Its.A.Movie.

The people who believe a stupid movie like this are often the same type of people who get spun up over a movie like this....
