Mike Bloomberg, hope you are reading this.:sarcastic::dance3:

<snip>

Robin Natanel picks up a compact black pistol, barrel pointed down range. Gripping the gun with both hands, left foot forward, she raises the semi-automatic and methodically squeezes off five shots. The first one creases the left edge of a red bull’s-eye on a target 25 feet away. The four others paint a three-inch pattern around the first. If the target were a person’s head or heart, he’d probably be dead.

Natanel is a Buddhist, a self-avowed “spiritual person,” a 53-year-old divorcee who lives alone in a liberal-leaning suburb near Boston. She is 5-foot-1 (155 centimeters) and has blonde hair, dark eyes, a ready smile and a soothing voice, with a hint of Boston brogue. She’s a Tai Chi instructor who in classes invokes the benefits of meditation. And at least twice a month, she takes her German-made Walther PK380 to a shooting range and blazes away.

Two years ago, an ex-boyfriend broke into her house when she wasn’t home. The police advised a restraining order. Instead, she bought pepper spray and programmed the local police number on her cell phone’s speed dial. “I was constantly terrified for my safety,” she says.

Ultimately, she got the Walther, joining a confederacy of people who might once have been counted on in the main to be anti-handgun -- women, liberals, gays, college kids. They are part of a national story: Domestic handgun production and imports more than doubled over four years to about 4.6 million in 2009, according to the National Shooting Sports Foundation, a gun-industry trade group.

‘Societal Change’

The surge has been propelled by shifting politics and demographics that have made it easier and more acceptable than at any time in 75 years for Americans to buy and carry pistols. Post-9/11 fears also seem to be a factor, as has been the relentless pro-gun politicking of the National Rifle Association and marketing, particularly to women, by handgun manufacturers. Events like yesterday’s fatal shootings on the Virginia Tech University campus reinforce a feeling that the world is an unsafe place, even as violent U.S. crime rates fall...

Good article. I prefer to think that there has been a 'sea change' in people having enough guts to admit that they want to protect themselves/exercise their rights and to also admit that the anti-gunners are full of bovine fecal material.

apparantly UN has not gotten that memo...

The fact of the matter is that most people have lost faith banks, churches, govt and other such institutions that have historically been built of marble. Many people are getting the memo that if the SHTF, you may be on your own. Maybe for only 20 minutes, maybe for day, maybe for 3 days, maybe longer. But people are starting to come back to that whole self reliance thing.

Exactly, nor has the progressive left that control the Democratic party. While it does warm my heart (and even encourage me) when I hear about these non-typical gun owners the reality is that these people will continue to vote for the Democratic candidate and those candidates will be overwhelmingly anti-gun progressives. Only when these people see the light and either start voting the gun issue or somehow band together and push the anti-gun progressives out of the Democrat party will their pro-gun attitudes matter.

Now is the time to introduce middle of the road people, and in the middle of letting them shoot an AR mention how Obama wants to ban them and talk about FF.

Very few people will put a mag through an AR and not want one of their own or come away thinking 'we need to ban these'. I have 3-4 people right now chomping at the bit for me to take them shooting.

Agreed! It's amazing what a few boxes of .22, some range time and friendly atmosphere can do to change people's perceptions about firearms who were on the proverbial fence.

Firearm Sales Way Up During Holiday Season
December 13, 2011 10:15 PM

ROCKLIN (CBS13) — If you’ve pulled the trigger on a new firearm this holiday season, join the club.

As in your neighborhood shooting club, because faster than a speeding bullet, guns are going out the door.

Well, not right away, of course — there is that 10-day waiting period, 11 here at TDS Guns in Rocklin, where Bob Norgard wasn’t caught off-guard.

He’s making his purchase today so he’ll have his firearm under the Christmas tree as he joins a growing number of people who say they’re simply “doing what they need to do to protect themselves and their family.”

This surge in gun sales — the best holiday sales season in three years, according to the Firearms Dealers Association — got a shot in the arm on Black Friday.

“Black Friday sales were off the charts this year,” a TDS employee said.

FBI stats show the number of background checks done on Black Friday three years ago pales in comparison to the number done this year — a 32-percent jump.

“People are just coming in to protect themselves,” the employee said. “I think there’s just a lot of things going on in the world that are getting people thinking.”

More women are buying guns than ever before as criminals get more desperate.

Like break-ins while people are at home sleeping. It’s happened twice in a few weeks in a Rocklin neighborhood.

TDS Guns says at least three women from the area have come in to buy a gun because as one victim told CBS13: “I’m gonna be ready for the next time.”

Amen. And do not forget the women that you work with, or know at church. I have had three different women approach me in the last few months, to get advice on where to buy firearms or take a CHL class.

You men with families are worried about protecting those you care about. Now imagine how the smart, single women feel these days.

I also sent them the link to Grey Group Training. A couple of them would love to take classes from Ken Hackathorn. I told them "Me too!" :D

You can call me crazy, but I think we're at the verge of a major surge in gun rights. Gun control is a losing issues for the gun grabbers now. It's becoming mainstream, and the lies they've cloaked the issue with for so long are beginning to be dismantled.

I really would not be at all surprised if we saw some substantial decrease in the regulation of "silencers" in the next 5-10 years.

Interesting times.

I think the major surge in gun shows on TV, shows that routinely get criticized by gun people, are having a major role in dismantling the gun stigma. Before Son of Guns, Top Shot, and American Guns, etc, the only time you saw a firearm on network TV was in some crazy gun fight sequence on in the news.

Also, +1 on taking non gun people to the range. In my experience it is the fastest way to turn people around.

+2. My daughter in law would have nothing to do with firearms until recently. I took her to the range and she really enjoyed shooting the M4 and my old MkI. It does change perceptions.

Agree that taking people shooting is the first, best way to change their minds. Unfortunately, a lot of retards do just that and hand the 110lb girl who's never shot a gun the biggest, loudest gun they own.

I've "converted" quite a few folks from the other side and many of them are now proud gun owners themselves. It's a rewarding feeling.
