So - after several months of EDC with my new Emerson Roadhouse, I somehow lost the damn thing. Made me question getting another knife on the north side of $200:)

Am now looking at the TOPS/BUCK CSAR-T Pro. Any comments?

TIA

I have not tried this one but own other buck products I have liked a lot (most recently, the Nighthawk 650), and I did look into this one. I assume you're talking about the 3.5" CSAR folder (http://www.buckknives.com/index.cfm?event=product.detail&ProductID=3763) in ATS-34 stainless (similar to 154cm). This is decent steel, and an award-winning design. With Buck, you know the heat treat on the steel is good, so even when they use an average steel, it's usually better than when most other companies use the same stuff (especially with the Paul Bos heat treat). It's also made in the U.S.

I wouldn't hesitate to give this knife a try, it's likely to be a very solid 3.5" folder and the price isn't bad; I've seen them online in the $80 to $90 range. One thing worth considering: it's fairly heavy for a 3.5" folder. I've seen reported weights ranging from 7 oz to 8.6 oz on the Buck site (perhaps the higher weight is with sheath). For me, the weight was a little excessive for EDC, so even though I liked the design and probably would have bought it, I passed on this one.

not to say anything bad about the Buck but if I was considering a knife in this class and price range, I'd be looking at the Zero Tolerance line...
