I am very glad this deputy is recovering from his injuries. This happened not far from where I live.

This happens a lot more than you think. 2 officers struck by friendly fire in CA about a week ago. http://santamariatimes.com/news/local/crime-and-courts/friendly-fire-hit-officers/article_37eb7f9a-2560-11e1-8012-001871e3ce6c.html

The "elite" ESU from NYPD squeeze off rounds unintentionally, negligent discharge, quite often. On average NYPD has 2 ND's a month for the past 2 years. http://articles.nydailynews.com/2011-02-01/local/27738528_1_esu-rockefeller-center-incidents

Was it here or on GT that I read about cops wear vest in training because of friendly fire accidents. Anyways it seems to be making headlines again lately.

It happens in any community where you have a lot of people handling firearms. I imagine a few members here have holes in their house just never spouted off about it.

At one point I was working in a large secure area, and had clearing barrels outside the checkpoint to get it. It was almost daily at least one person would put a round in there.

It always made me nervous as shit with the shoulder holster crew who's gun pointed directly back. Stand in line at the PX and have an M9 pointed at your chest while waiting to check out.
