Anyone loads these? I'm looking for the proper OAL as they tend to seat short.

What make are they? I've seen several different bullet profiles for them and the seating depth will vary.

Generally just try seating them to under mag length and so that the wax ring is within the case. It's whatever works. For loading 45 ACP with leadcast I just work a load to a ballpark seating depth that feeds fine but has the wax ring below the mouth and go with that. It's difficult to get precise COAL with lead as they get deformed. Also, you can always email the manufacturer. They generally have a suggested seating depth.

They are from a place called Better Bullets close by.

I've been researching for a few hours and most people are loading around 1.20. I load 200 grain LSWC to 1.26. I measured the length of the RNFP next to a SWC and a 230 gr RN and it is .06 shorter. So 1.20 makes sense. It's basically a 230 gr RN with the tip cut off.

BTW, I'm using Solo 1000 and was going to start with 4.8 gr. Anyone have any load suggestions with Solo 1000?

I've got a loadbook here, and it suggests a load of 4.7gr solo 1000 for a 230gr LRN..863fps.no OAL given.. No Max load given. For a 200gr LSWC, they have the following listed..4.1gr-820fps(listed as a target load) to 4.7gr-898fps using a Speer LSWC. No OAL given. I've haven't used solo 1000 in a .45, just in 9mm, you do know it's reverse temp sensitive, and burn rates have been known to vary...I'm using 200gr LSWC's with 5.0gr Win231, I've been trying different oal's and settled on 1.232(was shooting for 1.230, But, 1.232 is close enough), I'm thinking you should be fine with that load, and OAL.

ETA: I did a little more digging around in my pile of data and came up with this, copied from Accurate powder's site 200gr LSWC, (laser cast bullet) using Solo 1000, 4.8gr 838fps to 5.3 952fps MAX. OAL used was 1.190

Thanks for the info. I'm heading to the range this afternoon and will see if it works. I loaded 20 rounds to test. I am loading for IDPA and thought that this shape round may cycle more reliably than swc's out of a 4" 1911.

A simple way to determine this is to seat them a little long and use your 45's barrel for a chamber guage.

Turn the die down incrementally until the round seats in the chamber without hitting the rifling.

I tried that and 1.20 is actually perfect. Rounds run fine but I'm having other issues with the gun....
