I went to the show in Fredricksburg yesterday and picked up a Vector side folder for $499.99.

I asked to inspect the rifle, it's sights are aligned, it was built on an Armory USA receiver (good) with an all matching # Polish kit, with an excellent + bore.

These are stock photos from Atlantic's website, but the rifle looks just like it.

I replaced the Polish laminated handguards with a set of East German bakelite. Looks really sharp now, I'll try to get some photos soon.

Overall, I've very impressed with the quality of the build, the manganese parkerizing looks to be very well done. Fit and finish are great.

I'll try to get a range report this week.

First impressions are that it's a hell of a rifle for the price. Equipped with the early East German side folder is a big bonus.....you can easily change it out to another style AKM fixed stock or an ACE side folder if you choose to.

I just put 190 rounds through it today after work.

Functioned flawlessly, as expected. It took 15 rounds to sight in.

Off hand, iron sights, at 100 yds., I had no trouble molesting the hell out of the 10"x10" steel.

Good enough for what I wanted it for, a "truck" rifle.

Fits perfectly in an M60 spare barrel bag.

Boom, Copes Distributing should have some for $70.00.

DPH has them on sale, but he's a one man show, so shipping may take a little longer.

Which dealer did you get it from?

Doug Stockton, good guy to do business with.

He's out of Spotsylvania. I wouldn't have bought the rifle if he hadn't let me field strip it to inspect it.

I just emailed him to see if he had any AKS-74 side-folders in stock. :)

SSGKNIVES!!!

That is who I thought you may have gotten it from. Doug is the man!

He is the crook that I get my class III stuff from. He really hooks up repeat or serious buyers that know what they want.

Nothing but praise from me.

Why do you say that? Are there known common problems wit the Vectors? I've been toying with the idea of getting one.

Vectors are by and large fine rifles, and I'm happy with the one I bought, BUT, they are parts rifles, meaning they are usually built using a variety of parts.

Not a problem most of the time, but I wanted to check the bore and overall conditions.

Field stripping the rifle revealed that it was built from an all matching Polish AKMS kit in excellent condition, which is a good thing.

I also wouldn't buy a Vector unless it used a Global Trades/Armory USA (same guys) receiver. They're properly heat treated and a very good receiver to build on, dimensionally correct for the most part.
