View Full Version : Any non-standard parts on Magpul lower?

I know it's hard to say for sure until they actually get released, but I'm wondering if I'll need anything other than the standard stuff to assemble a Magpul lower. I seem to remember seeing something about the bolt catch pin somewhere, but my search-fu is weak. Searching for bolt, catch, or pin on this site gets you nowhere... :D

I'm pretty confident in my answer, so I'll give it a shot.

There is no bolt catch rollpin, so that may be what you are thinking of. Its been replaced with a threaded bolt that is smooth where the bolt catch engages. This recesses and looks like a standard roll pin when viewed installed.

A standard LPK will be all you need to assemble your Magpul lower, you will end up with a few extra parts.

Thanks, Stickman. Will that part be included or is it something you can find anywhere?

ETA: I would also owe you a steak dinner if you can post up some more porn featuring that lower.... :D

KNS pins are something that doesn't come with a standard lower parts kit, but are available through a variety of dealers.

If I get the chance, I'll take you up on the steak dinner, or grab a beer if we ever meet. Just in case we don't, I'll open another beer right now.

I've got some Magpul lower pictures that I think would make decent wallpaper, but it may be a little while until those come up, hopefully this will tie you over.

I think we are still a little ways out. I can say that so far the 20 round PMAGs have been flawless under regular and suppressed shooting. I have done zero FA firing with them as of right now.

Only one Ranger Plate, and I have to change it back and forth between 20 and 30 round PMAGS just to keep you guys plied with pictures.... :) I hope you feel my pain over here.

The lowers are machined with the Norgon Ambi-Catch in mind (not pictured in Stick's photos). There may be a few other changes - I don't know what final configuration has been decided on, or if that information has been released. I know there was a long thread on TOS about the lower, but I can't seem to find it right now. If you want, I'll post the assembly instructions here as soon as they're complete and the lowers are ready to ship.
