School me on this agency?

Saw a bunch of FPS marked cars on my way into NYC the other day.

Never heard of them.

The amount of different police agencies in this country is mind boggling. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970203518404577094861497383678.html

Federal Protective Service used to be the General Services Agency (The fed "landlord") Police, who have been around forever, just moved for budgetary reasons back in 2003. They are tasked with the security of federal buildings. They are a two part organization with a small cadre of federal employees and larger contingent of contract security employees, which they oversee. Back when DHS was "branded" some silly intern came up with an agency-wide uniform marking of DHS vehicles, which is the diagonal sash at the rear quarter. All are white with a blue sash with the exception of the Border Patrol, which is is white and green.
