So I just picked up a Sig P228 awhile back. Shot it and fell in live with Sigs all over again. Now a question. I ordered a 228 parts kit from TopGun supply. Replaced the roll pins and springs. I noticed however that the recoil spring is a tad longer/heavier. Then it hits me....This was a P228/P229 kit. The newer 228's have a heavier stainless slide which requires a heavier spring. Is this thing going to hurt anything leaving it in there? I cant get to the range for another week. Im sure the gun will function, but im concerned about long term use. Sorry for being a little ignorant with this. I know people change spring weights all the time, but not up on Sigs.

The P228's have the old stamped slide and the 229's have the heavier stainless slide. The new spring is probably longer than the old one because it is new. Springs compress a bit after normal use. It's nothing to worry about.

Little brain dead tonight. Dont know why I was thinking the newer 228's were stainless.
