This is my third post. I've been lurking here for a while and would like to say thanks for all of the great information I have gleaned from this site. I've learned a lot.

I was surfing the web and ran across the LWRC advanced combat bolt. Does anyone have any experience with one of these? It looks a bit like LMT's improved bolt, which I run in one of my mid-length's. I'm curious as I am planning another build next summer(this never ends does it).

Any info would be appricated.

Here's a link, hope it works.

It would be fine for a build, as long as that build is an upper from LWRC, as these will not work with a DI gun.

Just making sure you are aware of the application of this item.

Actually they do work in DI guns. It's just the bolt not the carrier. I have one in my wifes 3gun rifle.

Here's some pics of the one in my wifes 3gun rifle. I've used in another rifle as well. The bolt has 4500 rounds on it. I did wear out the 1st gen. extractor that it originally had. It now has the upgraded gen 2 Raptor extractor which has much more hook to it.

Thanks for the pictures, much more detail than the website pics. I'm going to think it to death, then buy one.

What is the reasoning for the notches / cut-outs on the lugs? Interesting.
(And they are not shown on the website.)

I too am curious to know what the notches cut in the lugs are for. Also what, if anything, makes this better than other bolts?

I've had two friends run them in 6.8 DI builds. They seem to produce better groups than the standard bolt. I have no idea why.

I believe they allow the lugs to flex from front edge to back keeping them from cracking. Do they work in the long run? I don't know, not a ton of rounds though this bolt yet.

LMT has a similar bolt with relieved lugs.

the cutouts on the LMT enhance bolt's lugs are not nearly that aggressive tho.

interesting.

how much are spare extractors for it? for the LMT its about $45 for a spare.

I don't know. They gave me the Raptor upgrade at no charge when I wore the other one out.

The cuts in the bolts lugs are to improve the reliability of the weapon. They allow dirty and sand and such to be move and still allow the bolt to lock into place and you to fire the weapon.

LWRC quit making this bolt.

LWRC quit making this bolt.

We are still making the ACB's, just without the cut-outs in the lugs. The purpose for them was to allow some flex within the lug, to increase service life. Because of the size and locations of the notches some guns experianced feeding issues. In most guns they worked great, but in some they didn't. Thus the reason we removed them.

Thanks for clarifying that Jesse. I didn't know that, Joe had said a few months back that the ACB was out of production. I need to call you and order a spare Raptor extractor.

The extractor springs look like below, they have black inserts in them:

Wow, talk about super bolt. I just purchased a BCM mag. partical inspected bolt and wish I had seen this first. But I will take one of those raptors!

Have you had any problems with this bolt being picky about ammo or will it eat anything you push with it?

It's worked fine for me thus far. I used it in my 3gun rifle for a while (when it was a 20"), now it lives in my wifes 3gun rifle. (Colt 16" .625" barrel CAR gas) and runs well. She had 1 jam (failure to feed) using it which I attributed to the SIG 556 mag she had been using.

LWRC ACB is 1.55oz.

New BCM bolt is 1.53oz.
