Saw one of these recently and was quite impressed with it. I'm considering it or a TAG Banshee for my 2012 armor solution.

Pics and details

Three Versions: 1) Plate carrier with cumber, 2) Plate carrier with molle, 3) Plate carrier no molle

Supports SAPI or Swimmer cut 10×12 or 11×14.

MOLLE on the inside of the cummerbund for side plate pockets, velco for soft armor. And there is also a MOLLE solution for no cummerbund at all.

Top loads plate, so plates never fall out. Had this happen to me with a carrier not all that long ago while training and I was livid. Plate wasn't damaged and neither were my toes, but still, total B.S.

Available in 500 Denier or 1000

Comes in ATACS and ATACS-FG

Price is $199

That'd be a rude shock, all right. With which carrier?

It was by Eagle. I landed with quite a bit of force after rappelling, and plate came out.

Probably my own fault for not inspecting better before heading out...the experience gave me cause for pause.

Though, the experience has made me re-consider what is an acceptable amount of velcro purchase on the plate retention flap...and reconsider the merits of a top loading design which I've only encountered on one other vest, and it was a custom deal.

I always figured bottom loading plate carriers were a safety compromise having to do with water-borne operations. Can anyone confirm or deny?

Never heard that before. Would be interesting to know if that is a factor that dictates the uniform plate loading style found on 99% of carriers.
