The bottom one (SBR) is now wearing a LaRue 7.0 and standard front sight base with a Surefire flash hider / mount for a Surefire "k" supressor that I'm waiting for.

And I've got a 4th LMT M4 with iron sights that has coyote Magpul / Tango Down furniture, LaRue 7.0, LaRue BUIS, and a Surefire flash hider / mount that I haven't had time to take pics of yet.

Just a bit. As normal as any Colt. In fact I dont notice it at all when I shoot it :D

I have 2 other RRA lower receivers paired with CMT upper receivers that dont have ANY play between them. Also have another LCW receiver paired with a RRA 9mm upper that excibits almost no play.

I have an LMT upper and an LMT lower, and there's still some play. :D

It's just part of the design of the weapon, and frankly it's a non-issue. Companies that try to eliminate play between uppers and lowers do so by tightening the tolerances, with no practical benefits whatsoever. It only becomes harder to take the two halves apart, and you might find that uppers from other manufacturers may not even fit the lower.

First post here, been lurking for awhile.

Here's my LMT lower. I figured out what I wanted to build and ordered everything in pieces. I put it together and found the USO to top it off. The Noveske 16" 1/7 polygonal barrel shoots great and I love the PRI forend. I love the cheekweld with the SOPMOD stock. Probably spent way to much money but I only had to build it once. Thanks, Wes

MY M&P15A still has no play whatsoever. Having said that my old issue colt shook like a lebanese belly dancer, and I still qualified over 37 every time. So I still think this is just a civilian gripe, cause we are all spoiled.

What is the tiny mark at the top rear of the upper (underneath the rear sight)? I just bought an LMT upper, and it has this mark as well. I've seen marks such as this on some LMTs and Colts. Does it mean anything?

Looks to me like the forging mark for Cardinal Forging.

HELP!!! Noticed LMT HGs are a bit slimmer than Larues and LWRC HGs which is causing a very slight side to side wobble. At first, I thought it was the TD but tried several units with simlar results. Anyone have the same issue?

I'll have this gun at Pat's class. It's one of 4 or 5 extras that I'm bringing for students to use. You are welcome to use it if you want.

If you want to use it for part or all of the class, drop me a line and let me know. Due to my extra duties (host) and the range rules (keeping guns cased, etc.), there probably won't be much chance to take it to one of the other ranges or to pull it out for quick inspection (due to range rules).

The T1 + LaRue BUIS is really no different than running a ML3 + LaRue BUIS. I've got (3) T1's so far and (2) of them are on guns with LaRue BUIS'.

Well the one that comes with the LMT stock kit is grey due to a Teflon coating or something they put on it I can’t remember exactly what it is. The blacker ones are probably where some one just bought the stock with out the tube and put it on their existing tube. The lock up is good on the LMT tube but is also good on a milspec tube but on the last non LMT tube I had I put some electrical tape to tighten it up a bit this one I don't feel the need.

i removed the coating on mine. it comes off in the end anyway. some of the guys that shoot NTCH have the coating worn off where their cheek touches the tube.

Since thi set up picture, I have gone to X300 with a surefire rifle kit, broke the rifle kit rear cap and switched to a Surefire Scout with 6PLED lamp module and a CREE 200LUMEN lamp. add an EOTech 3x with FTS mount and a PVS14 ith a FTS ring.

That is one of the slickest setups I've seen to date. Every time you post a picture of it, I grow more feeble in my attempt to resist putting together one of my own.

The Pelican, I have one in the tan colour. Expensive, but well worth it. I opted for the solid foam inserts, not the pick and pull, and did all the cutting myself. Another thing I did that some of you out there may want to consider, I sewed together a row of twelve open top mag pouches and hot glued it to the inside of the lid, and then cut a recess out of the backside of the lid foam insert. Works great, nothing falls out.

A few thing I learned

UDE = pure sex

T1 > TA33-8 for CQB

CTR > SOPMOD for 14.5" M4

I got the UDE kit from Larue too, got it on my LMT lower with Stag upper (I know, I know, I put an LMT BCG in it, but I'm waiting for my LMT upper), I just wish they made Pmags in UDE too, I hate the mismatch with the FDE Pmag. And I want more XTM panels in UDE too, since I intend to get a rifle-length MRP.

Both are built with LMT uppers, one a 10.5, the other 14.5. The 14.5 is on a Magpul lower, the 10.5 is on a SMOS billet lower.

ikickhippies on TOS had them made up and was selling them, the one in that pic was a "gen 1". I also got one of his "gen 2" versions which is rounded instead of squared off.

His ad has since dissapeared, probably got pulled since it became "commercial" venture.

I decided to ditch the 14" Lite rail because I didn't like the overall balance of the gun and didn't want to put a heavier stock on to balance it.
I opted for a 12" FDE Lite rail from Rainier for shits and giggles, then decided to put the upper on my Noveske lower that had FDE MOE furniture.
This was the result.

The shorter rail gives me a better view of the pin and weld job. I got a little sloppy with the file and nicked flash hider, but at least you can tell it has been welded.

The upper in this config sighted in just fine at 50yards with Centurion ammo. I've got about 300 rounds down the pipe and like this setup a lot so far, I can't wait to shoot again with the "new" lower. It is built up from G&R parts and I only have about 60 rounds behind this nice trigger. I had to shoot at a range where I could only load 1 round in the mag at a time, talk about one long function check. The G&R trigger was much, much nicer than my LMT Defender trigger.

My LMT CQB MRP Defender Model Piston 16 cost me $2100 < 2 months ago. I went to the same place today to buy another one and was quoted $2500 for the exact same gun. Is this consistent with what others are paying? This gun shop actually has these in stock so I can understand some premium but are they way out of line?

10.5 inch LMT upper with a Vltor rifle style modstock. This stock may not look as sexy as a shorter stock, but it works SO well. Oh yeah, and MOE handguards. My goal with this rifle is to keep it fun, simple and light.
