I was interested in .300 Blackout but really have no interest in getting an upper and building another rifle. Fortunately, I had a .300 Whisper barrel lying around from years ago that I never used along with a T/C frame. The bull barrel was only 14" so a SF muzzle brake was perm attached to give a barrel length of 16.5". The barrel twist is 1:10.

The threading of the barrel meant that the front sight had to be moved back and reattached. For mounting optics/lasers/lights, a custom 1913 rail was made with 20 MOA built in.

I have a SF 7.62k can for it that I am awaiting approval on. In the test firing at the shop, the subsonic load was ridiculously quiet. Basically the hammer hitting the firing pin.

The rail lets me mount a T-1 or for even more fun, this Attila 200 IR laser. When used in conjunction with my PVS-14s, this would be a mighty fine Texas hog hunt gun:cool:

The barrel twist is 1:10...subsonic...

I would not use the 220gr subs in that twist.

Todd, I understand that 1/8 is optimal. This was test fired at 50 yds without the can and there was no keyholing or any evidence of instability. I wanted to make sure because I didn't want to ventilate an expensive suppressor. Maybe I have the twist wrong.

Should I go out farther before trusting the can on it? Thanks.

The stability is just too marginal for me, under normal conditions I'm not supprized the bullets are stabilized.

Do you handload?

If I had a 1/10 twist, I would use the Lapua 200 grain bullets.

No worries then, with a single shot you don't need to run the heavier bullets for cycling and you can load lighter, cheaper bullets subsoninc.
