Looks like no one has brought this up on here yet. Oh boy! I don't have any affiliation with Micor Defense (or NGA, for those still wondering), I'm just a big fan of their new platform.

The Leader 50 is a bullpup .50 BMG rifle that IMHO could quite possibly be the M107A1-killer. It weighs 17 pounds empty, has a 10-round detachable magazine, a 24-inch barrel, and is only 39 inches overall. It has a 3-position gas regulator and is reported to have less recoil than a .30-06. Plus, the MSRP is significantly lower than comparable Barrett rifles, at $6,800.

The following links are definitely worth a look, even if you aren't in the market. I find the technology fascinating, and the rifle looks good!

What do you guys think? Am I getting excited over nothing?

I like the photos of the pudgy guy scowling.

I would also say that having Defense Review being the sole source of your accolades doesn't inspire much confidence.

Now that I am done being crabby, I'll say that it looks interesting and that I wouldn't want to be hit in the face with that muzzle break.

That gun could shoot golden nuggets at the speed of light and this advertising would still turn me off to it...

This is seriously one of the funniest gun advertisements I've seen in a while. Is he wearing fishnet gloves??? Nice Grip-Pod brah.

Does the fat guy come with the rifle?

He could carry the rifle and some snacks.

COME ON PEOPLE! Ignore the stupid advertisement and just focus on the rifle. This is kind of a big deal in my opinion! The last time there was a major innovation in .50 BMG technology was like 30 years ago. This rifle can run laps around the M107A1 in the weight, length, price and recoil categories. Doesn't anyone else think this is cool?

If you want to hear alot of clapping and applauding go to the theater or a movie.

How can you expect anyone to fanboy for something that has no record of performance?

The Barrett on the other hand has been killing Americas' enemies for a good 20 years and has a proven record.

The cynicism on this site is killing me. Why can't anyone ever say something nice about a new product that people worked very hard on?

All new things suck until further notice...

This company is high on their own fumes. This is the same company that makes a flash hiders with a twist rate to match your barrel.

The guy in the ad learned everything he knows about sniping from Billy Zane.

It looks like a Bushmaster M17 bullpup upsized to .50 cal.

My thoughts exactly. I for a short time had most of the bullpups abailble in the US for some research. The Bushmaster M-17 reciever looks very similure. Funny link is that the M-17 was designed in Austrailia to compete for the Aussie Army Trials. The AUG won. If the wikapidi is at all accurate, the M-17 was developed from the Leader T-2, so hence the link. Of note the Leader 50 designer is the same as for the Leader T-2. ArmsTech was involved with both the Leader T-2 and the M-17, so I would guess that St George designed all three weapons and they are variations on the same design.

Definately an "Other" Asssualt Rifle Thread (http://m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=79780&highlight=leader+t2)

For this application the GripPod bi-pod would have to be at about the bottom of my list of bi-pods to use. Of course from the looks of the balance you might need some sort of verticle grip to lever that thing down when you patrol with it. looks very tail heavy.

Then we get into the Optic mount....

Spacer attached to a reciever rail with the rings attached to the spacer. To say that is sub optimal is an understatement. They are missing several other design cues for a military application if thats what they are aiming at.

Hum, looks like Oleg Volk (http://olegvolk.net/blog/2012/01/07/just-back-from-the-range/)has figured out the optic issue

Notice it's a side charger

It's interesting and maybe it works, I don't know. That said I think they need to bring me on board as a consultant to help out with their image problems and design cue issues.:jester:

Our stubborn insistence on real world data. I don't think this forum is a good fit for you.

What experience do you have with the Barrett?

A bull up 50 bmg that has less recoil than a 30-06 because of a fancy three position gas port and a muzzle break even though it weighs 2/3 of a barret? What isn't to believe about this item?

Nice things are said. About things that aren't either 1) stupid or 2) hard to believe the ads are true because of outrageous claims.

Go look at the threads on tavor, 2 moa aimpoint and various other products that generate excitement. The products are from good vendors with reasonable claims and evidence to back up the claims.

Firstly.. If your gonna advertise with some 1986 legwarmers... netgloves, or some other silliness .. Be a bigboy and take your lumps.

Secondly advertising is... Advertising. Apparently if I buy this rifle I become a soggy fxxk who spends weekends with a blow up doll.

Lastly.. Wtf are the merits of the rifle. Reliability, accuracy, etc. Third party validated.

Many hope for a better widget, but damn hard leap to get past the initial xxx presentation.
