Is the H-1 as physically rugged/durable as the T-1 (ie: kinetic impacts and similar abuse)?

We use H1s at my Department. Absolutely. I have T1s on my personal rifles, but unless you need NV capability, the H1s are an excellent value.

Not 100% sure but I think its the same optic less the NV capability.

If they are built the same, why does the T-1 have better water proofing?

QED, because they're not built exactly the same, they're just built slightly differently.

The H1 is a T1 with a different body coating, different lens coatings, no NV capability, and the immersion capability is like 15' for an hour (maybe two, I'd have to look that up...) instead of 145'.

If anybody wants to say that having a different set of O-rings on the openings means that it'll be less durable, you're right....

....in terms of water immersion. And, maybe the paint'll scratch off of an H1 faster than it would a T1.

In terms of impact and the ability to take recoil impulse, which is what folks usually mean when they're talking about durability, any difference that may exist is statistically insignificant and not measurable without instrumentation.

I beat the living hell out of an H1, it kept on going. I used it in subzero temps, and a few 100*+ days, still going. It's currently in use in Afg right now, sitting on an Army SPC's weapon.

If I had the extra money, I would buy the T1 just because, but I had no doubts about how rugged my H1 was. (I use a Aimpoint M4, so Im obviously concerned about ruggedness).

I have found that the resale value of non NV aimpoints to be in the toilet, no matter what model line.

So if you need to sell off your current aimpoint when the new generation comes out, then you might have to factor this in.

The H-1's are good to go.

For me, being in Sweden, the temperature rating of the T-1 (-50° to +160° F) is definitely more attractive than the H-1's -20° to +140°F. Unfortunately the Aimpoint T-1 is priced at $1120 over here (yup, and I live 10 minutes from where they are manufactured).
