Larry will be back to NE Ohio May 5-10, 2008 for another 1911 pistolsmith class. The first class in November was a great success. I have posted a couple photos of my build from that class and a link to a video of my pistol feeding rounds very slowly and smoothly.

Larry knows so much about the 1911, because he was in a position to see millions of rounds shot through 1911 pistol every year in his former career.

The class tuition is $2375 plus you will need to purchase the slide & frame set, internal parts and tools. You should also have a very good to excellent working knowledge of the 1911 pistol.

Email me for more information. Class size is limited to seven.

Saw this gun in person. FANTASTIC to say the least. Either Lynn is a great 1911 pistolsmith or LAV is the worlds best teach (or both). :D

You used the same Caspian frame that Night Hawk uses/used on their Vicker's model, right?

Lynn:
That gun is very nice. It does look like the NH pistol but I'm sure you're more proud of it since it's a labor of love done by yourself.

What is the address of the course? I want to map quest and see how far from me it is. That'll make up my mind on taking the class or not.

KCS,

Here is the address. It is about ten minutes south of Canton, OH. It is the home of Greenport Tactical Association.

adh,

Yes, it is the same frame as the NH Vickers model, except mine does not have the integral plunger tube. Larry wanted us to install the plunger tube on our pistols.

Andrew,

Yes, there are slots available. However, the date is coming near for cut off because we must order the slide/frame sets and everyone needs to order their parts and tools.

Sorry this has taken so long to post, but here are a couple photos of the pistol that I built in the May class. It is not finished yet. It needs a little more work on the exterior before I have it Melonited.

It was another great class by Larry.

Lynn,
I know everyone is wondering about a total cost break down. I would really like to know how much the class, parts, and tools cost. I'm not so worried about travel expenses but I would love to do this next year.
Thanks,
Dave
PS. your new build is awesome to say the least- nice work.

Dave L,

I will try to give you a breakdown as best as I can.

$2375 tuition
$450-$700 slide & frame (depending on options you select)
$500-$700 parts
$600-$1000 tools & supplies (depending on what you may have already)
Some of these costs also depend on whether you can purchase parts & tools at dealer cost or at retail. Anyone that is interested in a better cost breakdown, I can email you the parts & tool list and you can check for yourself.

This class is a major investment in time and money. It needs a strong commitment because of this. Larry cannot just plug another student in a slot if someone cancels like a shooting class.

The student also needs a very good to excellent understanding of the 1911 pistol and how to completely field strip down to bare frame and slide. The students also needs to know how to use a file and dremel tool.

But after you are finished with the class, you will own a fighting 1911 built with as much time & detail as you want to put into it.

Thanks for your comments also,

Lynn
