A lot of the photos are from requests by our members over at ITS. Most of them were interested in gear this year opposed to guns etc.
Other people who cover the show shoot nothing but guns so it was interesting to see that our members wanting shots of gear.
We only had three people at the show, next year we should have more.
Thanks for the input though, it will help us with our game plan for next year.

I really like the look of the SR16 SBR upper with the 11.5" barrel and midlength URX rail - I hope these come over to the civilian side for sale. I'm glad to see the SR15 SBR, but the flip up FSB and shorter URX is not for me.

LaRue innovative scope design starts with a S&B PM Scope with a Horus reticle, turn the scope upside down and then turn the reticle right side up, moving the top turret in between the scope tube and the upper receiver. thus eliminated the required height for the red dot to clear the top turret. even a small change as such make a huge difference in person.

The upside-down scope is a really nifty idea.

The lighter OBR certainly has my attention. I want to cut that foreend back to the gas block, add on a rail for a light and a VFG and see what it'll do.

a bit longer...

Thanks for the pics. Was there any word from LaRue about a possible SBR 7.62 OBR? Or at least a shorter handguard on the 16" barreled OBR? Something like a 9-10" handguard would be ideal. I don't really need a foot of handguard on my rifle.

I was also hoping LaRue was going to have a QD mount for the Trijicon RMR red-dot sights at SHOT '11.

My guess is that the mount sets the sight as far back as possible while still allowing to deploy the BUIS. I assume that they do this so that you have the largest filed of view through the micro when using the iron sights since you do not have both eyes open.

Actually that mount was designed along with knowledge of a very well known trainer (I don't know if I can talk about him at this time) but the mount was designed to allow operators that are using NV goggles or gas masks to still utilize their red dot even though they may not be able to obtain a "proper" cheek-weld.

Waiting for a SR15 version of their SR16 SBR as well...carbine length URX doesnt do it for me.

As am I, though in my case it isn't so much that I dislike anything about the existing configuration, as much as it is that the IWS lower is particularly important to me as a southpaw.

I really do hope this will be forthcoming, because dollar-for-dollar, I'm still persuaded that the SR series represents one of the best production ARs ever offered, and a factory SBR in the SR16 CQB configuration would be the icing on the icing on the icing of this particular cake.

Obviously, before any of that can happen, this first run needs to experience some market success, so here's hoping that they move very quickly for KAC.

This is all I really care about :D I have two coming with SOPMOD's and I cant wait to get them so I can MOD1 them...:dance3: I am in the hurry up and wait process right now...:shout: I have decided to keep one old school, one with the FDE DD MK18 rail and then buy a Centurion upper for the all black one including his Hk AR sights which I like a lot and will be adding to a couple more rifles shortly.

I really like the look of the SR16 SBR upper with the 11.5" barrel and midlength URX rail - I hope these come over to the civilian side for sale. I'm glad to see the SR15 SBR, but the flip up FSB and shorter URX is not for me.

Many BAD users have requested a non-ambi lower so I hope those guys got ahold of these. Next will be ambi- lower with same upper config . After that we will transition into a ambi-lower mid length configuration. Will be 4 to 6 months till this style gun is available. The gun shown at shot show is available for immediate order and shipment upon ATF approval. Dealers are required to order a minimum of 3 at a time. I will check but as far as I know they are all spoken for but sending in deposit or full payment can bump you to the front of the line.
We are working with Jerry Barnhart on a new line of optics mounts and other accessories. More to come on that .

This year's SHOT featured a few manufacture delivery aftermarket accessories for the FN SCAR system, in my opinion, the Tangodown designed rail extension are the slickest of them all. the rail you see in these picture are of SLI fast prototype plastic mock up, so in case you are wondering about the crack between the lower rail and the extension rail... its is just broken by hundreds of people handling the SCAR with this slick, slim and very functional SCAR rail extension.

because it takes both, their 7.62 upper and any existing 5.56 upper. the angled part with a lower front takedown pin, is that it clears the delta ring on the shorter 5.56 upper.

This is pure observation from what I could gather at the show, factual data could differ once Colt release the product...

The 5.56 conversion block inserts into the 7.62 magwell. the conversion block has two pivot pins. one is visible to the eye at the front near the middle of the mag well. it secures the mag block into the lower receiver. the other pin is hidden between the magwell, which lock the standard 5.56 upper to the mag block.

The 7.62 upper just have one pin, it connects to the pivot pin slot at the front, near the middle of the mag well.

Next will be ambi- lower with same upper config . After that we will transition into a ambi-lower mid length configuration. Will be 4 to 6 months till this style gun is available.

So to clarify:

4 to six months from now, we'll see the mid-length URX with the ambi lower receiver set up of the current SR-15 carbine.

If this is indeed the case and I'm not mixed up, you guys can put me down for at least one of the mid length. I've grown accustomed to that length and absolutely love it on my current SR-15. Thanks a lot for really putting out a product I can get excited about. I love your stuff and love how available both you and Kevin make yourselves to those who love your products!

The front sling swivel use this wire pull to release it, currently this is just a prototype, so the final look of this design are still being finalized.

The wire pull require the user to pull no more then 5 degrees from straight out, any deviation from that + or - 5 degree, the wire pull can't be pulled and the release can't be activated. this will ensure any accidental release of the front sling swivel.

The SR-16's did not have the swivels integral to the receiver. We won't be doing it anymore on the SR-15's but we did run a bunch of those those lowers with them, so it will be a while before the SR-15 is available without them.

In a way, you have to give credit where credit is due, Armalite is the only company invested their own dime to bring the Ar308 into the commercial market, back then, your only other choice was the KAc Sr25 system which cost triple the price of an AR10. They really are the company that brought the AR308 to the masses...

One other contribution to our industry is the development of the mid length system, they were the only available mid length system to the civilian market for a long time.

I'm less than clear on the legal implications myself.

I know that a manufacturer can take a standard receiver and reenter it on the books as an SBR receiver under certain conditions, I can't address how potential KAC v. KMC distinctions might play into any of this, nor how readily this can be done if the existing KMC lowers are already built-up past the 80% mark.

What I do know is that there is a market for a KAC SBR, and I'm confident that III's calculated risk will almost certainly translate into a profitable product line. Thank you for doing this.
