I looking to buy a new rifle and want to outfit it with an X300 and MOE handguards. I also prefer a forward mounted attachment point for a 2 point sling. How is the best way to accomplish this? I'm looking to stay low budget and light weight so I thought the MOE parts would be a good option but I haven't yet found a satisfactory way to mount both items on the left of the rifle.

I own a G2 with a Malkoff M61. Will I be happy with the output of the X300? I particularly like the wall of light and can live with the throw of the M61.

These guys have light AND sling mounts that work great on the MOE.

Thanks

I've looked at those options before but it seems to me that the closest to my needs is just the QD base mounted in the front-top slot in the handguard with the light mounted to the top of the HG using the cantilevered mount. This seems to me like the sling would obstruct access to the light controls. Maybe not? I may have to move the sling mount toward the rear of the rifle to make it work.

On another rifle I have a Colt style barrel mounted side swivel with a SF G2 light mounted to a MI front sight base mount. I like this but I'm pretty sure that the extra width of the X300 would make this setup not work.

I have a similar set up and went with the IWC Internal QD Mount it was real easy to do if you are hand with basic hand tools.

Has anyone used this piece on a vtac hanguard for a 2oclock or 10oclock set up up?

This is a conceptual problem, not a hardware problem. You're asking to put the two items in what is essentially the same space.

I would suggest something like the below, which I would accomplish with
IWC QD socket recessed into rear of MOE (http://www.impactweaponscomponents.com/product/qd-micro-installed-by-iwc-in-your-moe-hand-guard/)
Midwest Industries MCTAR-04 (http://www.midwestindustriesinc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=94) attached to FSB

configured like the below you'll have just enough room for your support hand on a carbine MOE. Get a Mid-length-gas carbine and you'll have even more room.

Alternately you could go with one of the Centurion C4 Carbine Cutout (http://centurionarms.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=177) at 10.5 oz or Midlength Cutout (http://centurionarms.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=179) at 12.4 oz. This would cost more but would give you a forward place to mount the X300 and a QD sling socket built in. The installed weight is 11.6 and 13.5 oz. respectively. The comparative MOEs are 10.2 and 12.5 with QD socket installed, and then you add the weight of the MI mount, which I oddly don't have but which easily pushes the total installed weight over that of the C4.

Rob - Good catch, I'm not sure what I was thinking when I typed that. I've looked at thousands of pics and many threads in the last month trying to figure this out. I've never used the close 2 point attachment points but since this rifle already has a DD Burnsed loop at the rear that is something I can definitely mock up and try.

The Centurion sound like a good option. Maybe I should splurge and go all out and be done with it.

Just realized that earlier I was talking about the TMC picatinny mount. At that point I didn't know that the MOEs don't currently support the top mounted devices.

Have you seen this mount:

Another option for the X300, I agree with everybody regarding the IWC QD Mount at the rear of the hanguard.

Yes, I have read that thread. Thanks for the suggestion. That mounting certainly avoids the negatives of a left or right side light for use behind cover.

BCM 11.5"
TLR-1 on a MI FSB mount
MOE carbine length hand guards w/ IWC Internal QD Mount
i thought about mounting the sling mount closer to the TLR-1 but it interfered with my thumb operating the switch.
Not an X300 but it'll mount just the same.
