Hello all,
So my buddy (a cop) is kinda torn. We were at the LGS tonight and he has really been eyeing this kimber warrior. He wants it for possible duty carry but also as a possible range / SD gun. Gun might also be worked on a bit for trigger/checkering/etc. I've told him of all the bad Kimber rap... but he loves the gun. From what I understand, the kimber warrior is series 70 and one of the "good" rated kimbers to buy? Would my buddy be dumb for picking one up? Are the warriors usually the good ones? Any solid recommendations / hesitations with this piece?

For the price point of a new one, I'd buy the Springfield MC Operator.

Hilton Yam's opinion of the Kimber Warrior.

Dont doit, my buddy has......dont do it. SPRINGFIELD.

On the upside, after it breaks, Kimber will fix it. 3 times if needed.

Kimber builds a beautiful 1911, no doubt. They aren't especially well-built, don't run especially well, and aren't made from especially good components, but they do look quite nice.

No way would I recommend this purchase.

Any solid recommendations...?

Only buy a used Kimber from a person who would not, under any circumstances, lie to you about it's function. Then have them tell you about it's function.

If this trustworthy person says it's 100%, then I would recommend it, otherwise, go somewhere else for a 1911.

This thread has more meat to it about Kimber, 1911's in general, and other platforms (including that holy of holies - Glock) than I have seen in a long, long time. Have a good read and give it to your buddy.

It even made Yam's recommended list for about a minute, then it was removed from that list due to feedback on QC issues, and such.

It seems to be one of the better Kimbers, which is to say, for the $$$, far better choices out there from respected 1911 manufacturers.
