I am in need of a holster for a Glock 34 and was looking at the Safariland ALS, but there are so many different models. This is the one I was looking at part # 6320-683-131. http://www.safariland.com/DutyGear/product.aspx?pid=6320

I plan on getting started in pistol competition this year and need a good holster. Really don't know where to start for holsters, lol.

I run a Safariland 6377/6378 for a simple belt slide holster (the paddle version comes with the parts to make it a belt slide).

Doesn't conceal worth a damn, but it's very, very fast. I'm faster with it than a kydex pancake style holster personally.

The retention is easily defeated if you know how, but it does have a retention feature.

The friction/kydex holsters are good for competition as well.

I like the Safariland ALS system personally, AND it work the same as my drop leg platform so my draw is consistent.

The 6320 is being discontinued. The replacement is 6390 for mid ride or 6395 for the low ride model. They dont list a 6390 yet for a Glock 34/35 unless you want one that will hold a light. FWIW, if you can find a 6320 cheap for a Glock 17/22, you can dremel open the bottom and it will fit a 34. Copquest still lists the 6320 for the Glock 34.

Is there a particular reason you want a ALS ? If your just using it for competition, you should look at Bladetech.

Thanks for the info. I guess I need to look at 2 holsters for this pistol then. One for training classes (like the ALS) and another for competition use.

I don't mind having one that fits an X300 also, that would probably be a plus.

Nah dude, just get the ALS and save yourself some money. I use a ALS for IDPA because my duty rig is a ALS holster.
