Has anyone seen this? Judging by other US Palm AK Magazines that are already on the market, what is the concensus on the 45 round magazine?? Good or bad??

scroll down a little and you will see the pic.

From what I've heard about the 30rd mags it sounds like these would offer a chance do dump 50% more rounds on the deck when they crap out.

Quad stack... Interesting - I will definitely watch to see the initial reviews on these.

+1 to what RD62 said. Aren't you going to need a stronger spring for more rounds? If the things were popping off with a 30rd spring, shouldn't it be even worse with a 45?

Also, 45??? The Russians are doing 50rd (and even then, only because 60rd, the true double mag, didn't work). Why is US Palm doing 45? Cuz it's 1.5 mag/3 stripper clips? Or is it some design issue for them?

The Russian 50 round mags are in 5.45x39, not 7.62x39.

I am interested in playing with one. I like that they are actually shorter than a 30rd magazine, something I wish Surefire had done with their quadstack mag, I'd have been more interested in a 45rd Surefire, shorter than a PMag, than a 60rd or a 100rd.

To my understanding, they fixed the bottom falling off of the 30 round magazine. My 4 US Palm magazines have been dropped on concrete and gravel and came out no worse for wear. I don't know if I'd be interested in a 45 in their style though, when 40s are available as circle-10s. The lack of being able to re-build them if needed is a real turn-off to me.

I bought my 4 US Palm magazines before I knew about Bulgarian magazines, but they have worked well for me.

I talked with TangoDown at length about the 45 round mag and it is going to tooling now, along with a 30 round quad stack that nobody has yet to mention. These mags are shorter in overall length than a standard 30 round mag, which is a nice feature. I also asked about 5.45x39 versions and they said that they are coming, but they want to get these out there first.

I am very interested in getting a few of each capacity to test in the near future.

The bottoms popped off both of my AK30s just from keeping them loaded for 6 months.

Here's some video of the mag I shot this past week at SHOT Show.

So the quad 45 is approximately the same length as a standard 30 round magazine. The quad 30 is then roughly the size of a Hungarian 20 round magazine?

Yes, the 45 rounder is just a fraction of an inch shorter than a US PALM 30 round single stack magazine. The 30 round quad stack is the same length as a 20 round single stack mag.

U.S. Palm stepped up and sent me 4 new improved mags to replace the two bad ones. They bottoms now have built in clips to lock them in place.

The obvious question I think however is why the hell did TD and US Palm not in the same way reinforce the feed lips on the AK mag, (especially after saying that is exactly what they were going to do) as they did with their AR mag?

Belloc, That is NOT a Tangodown AR mag in your pic. It is a Lancer.

For the price of the 45rd quad stack mag you can buy a 75rd drum mag. As I only see the over 30rd mag idea as a range toy I see no point in these.

I just bought another Brand new Romanian 75rd. drum for $90.:D

Until they have steel parts in critical areas like these I will hold them suspect.

Red and Yellow parts are steel.

If they just get some metal in the top of the mag (feed lips, catch and the hook up front), I'll pay the $100. Ok, metal on top, and reliable. Metal on top, reliable, and base plates not ejecting. Metal on top, reliable, feed lips not cracking, base plates not ejecting.

It's got to weigh 1/3 of what drum weighs, without the ridiculous width of a drum.

i saw a post on warriortalk where gabe said it was a must for mags to have steel in the locking areas and feed lips like that
AR mag theyre pushing. so i PMd him and asked him if the metal feedlips are so important, why does he say the US Palm AK30 is the best AK mag when they lack the metal in the feedlips?? he banned me, with a message that my "mindset" would be more at home at another forum..lol smh..i wont ever buy a product that he's involved with in any way...

That's not very surprising, he's a joke. I've yet to break my 2 US Palm mags yet, but round count is only at 300 per mag and I haven't really punished them yet. I do have interest in this 45 round quad, it could be pretty useful.

Welcome to the club, Matt :)

I got banned there once for pointing out that US AK barrels aren't hammer-forged.

Facts seem to be a no-no there...
