I need some help with a decision:

I am going to get a MK18. The Upper will be factory DD. What I'm struggling with is the price difference between buying a complete factory gun or form 1'ing a lower and putting the upper on it. My dealer has a DD MK18 on the shelf and so availability appeals to me, plus the fact that it's a factory DD gun.

The other option is the BCM blem lowers Grant has semi-complete for a good deal right now.

The price difference I'm looking at is $250. Do you think it's worth $250 to have a factory SBR instead of a Form 1 gun?

Short answer, yes. If your local shop has a DD mk18 put your money down and start the paperwork. Doing a form 1 is an acceptable way to go NFA if you already have the lower or are in a ban state with a pre-ban lower. Also, you would need to have the lower engraved which adds to the cost.

Going the factory route is an excellent option and, in my mind, worth the extra 250. The only painful thing about that is paying for the rifle then having it sit at the gunshop for months.

I think either would be fine but would lean toward the complete gun if you had the extra $ to spend.

I'd buy the factory DD if you want a Mk18. I shot a full auto one suppressed Monday at the AAC shoot before SHOT Show.

What can and mount did they have on it?

I would go the form 4 route. Nothing wrong with form 1. Does your $250 difference include the engraving and shipping? Only you know how important the $250 difference is. I have a spare lower I've been wanting to form 1 but I have just not. Part of it is the trust name is pretty long. Are you doing this as an individual or trust?

Form 4 for sure.

I would do a form 1. You can Build exactly what you want and cheaper in the long run. Not taking off parts you paid for but will never use.

Did a form 1 because I wanted to build mine from the ground up with a wide selection of aftermarket parts. If you just want one that's factory complete a form 4 would be a good way to go.

Factory gun is nice, but you have to wait forever to get it. With a house gun, you get to have your upper. I test fired and zeroed mine on a buddy's SBR while I was waiting.

Gemtech G5, don't know what mount I didn't take the can off.
