I've always liked breakdown rifles and know they arnt always practical but i just saw a picture of the AK US Palm had to show off their wares. It was a breakdown build that separated at the normal part (trunion or receiver). Are any of you at the SHOT show and have some other pictures and info on it?

If you have any other images or info on breakdown rifles including bolt guns feel free to chime in. One thing im interested in is the i guess you could call them QD threads. How are they cut and hardened so the wear doesnt just make the rifle a piece of trash before the barrel is worn out.

Since the AK headspaces off the bolt, trunnion and barrel, you'd have to get that sucker in there EXACTLY where it needs to be, every time, for it to work properly.

I'll be very interested in seeing how this ends up working out.

I'm not at the SHOT Show, but here (http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7143/6716177565_d2eb0ff6d7_o.jpg) is a picture from ITS Tactical. They're at the show.

Yep thats the one i saw. Thats what i was curious about on the indexing and headspace. I see they do have a large pin that looks like it would secure something. Once you start to get some wear IF you could even keep it perfectly in place time after time in the beginning it seems like there would be issues. Dont the benchrest guys hand screw on their barrels. It seems like they would be very conscious of headspace changes.
